If you hit the link that LHF68 posted, you'll see the timeline for this story. It first hit the Internet at about 11:30 a.m. today. Obviously, the DMN's U.T. beat writer was not awake yet. Holiday, you know. Probably partied too much on 6th Street last night.
For what it's worth: it's now the TOP STORY on the www.dallasnews.com site when you hit the link, complete with game photo.

Today's Blackistone column says Harris was let off previously on a "technicality."
That would be "starter for Mack's Dopehorns."

Let's wait until the entire story comes out before convicting these guys. Brown and Gatewood have already taken drug tests to prove they don't smoke (or have any in their system). Aaron Harris has been involved with weed before and he admits he was smoking it, so if the tests come back negative then I assume the charges are dropped on the other two.
I do think Mack will suspend them for this week's game, if not the rest of non-conference play as a lesson not to put yourself in that kind of situation.
Too bad this kind of stuff happens all over colleges though...

The report I read said both tested negative. The gun is the biggest issue. "Suopposedly" the gun was under the seat and belonged to the driver of the car. It had slid out from under the car and Brown (I think) had it on his lap to take inside when they stopped. He was asleep in the back seat and had the gun on his lap.

I would actually have to admit to a little respect for Coach February if he suspends any real players (no ninth-string punters, etc.) for the game against No. 1 Ohio State.
By the way, the last No. 1 team to visit Austin?

Why do so many of these UT players carry guns and weed?

Great trivia! Will we see this graphic on TV this weekend? Probably not. Oh, yeah...the Mustangs lost to the 'Horns, 23-20 before a crowd of 65,498. It was also SMU's first loss that year. They went on to lose to A&M, Baylor and TCU. Finished with a 6-4 record.

Well, Brown has suspended Tarell Brown and Tyrell Gatewood for the game on Saturday.

Good. I hope they're still suspended when Sam Houston State plays the 'Horns on Sept. 30, too!

Why do you care if they are suspended for SHSU? They don't stand a chance either way.

Here in Virginia having a gun in your lap in plain view, may get you shot by a nervous officer, but its not a crime. Having a gun under the seat of your car is a crime, unless you have a carry permit. So, my question is this? Is it really illegal in Texas to carry a gun in plain sight in a car? If that's true, then I may actually live in the most gun friendly state in the Union.
