MWC went 4-4

Postby Sam I Am » Tue Sep 05, 2006 10:09 pm

The MWC went 4-4 for the first weekend of football. The CUSA went 4-7.
TCU is ranked. Is anybody ranked from the CUSA? I'm a SMU fan, but we've lost the bragging rights for the CUSA for one week.

The MWC! Let's see UNM (lost to Portland State), SDS (lost to UTEP), UNLV (on everyone's cupcake list). AFA, CSU, Wyoming hardly world beaters. So, you're left with Utah and BYU (both programs are not where they once were). And we won't have a top 25 team because there is a lot of parity in CUSA. I expect the division champions to each have at least 2 losses if not 3 losses in conference. And if TCU played in CUSA, they'd have at least 2 conference losses as well and would not be in the Top 25 either.

CUSA 1 MWC 0

Postby Sam I Am » Wed Sep 06, 2006 11:11 am

In the comparisons that matter between the CUSA and the MWC, the inter-conference game record is the issue. After the first week, it is CUSA 1 and MWC 0, thanks to UTEP 34, SAN DIEGO STATE 27.

Here is a question: Is TCU in the Mountain West or are they in the Southland Conference? Why else would they do a home and home with the University of Texas-San Antonio.

Edit: In men's basketball

I agree. That is a little odd. UTSA has made a few showings in the Tourney over the years to usually get murdered by Duke or another 1 seed. Maybe tcu figured they would try and get a two (instead of one) easy wins on their schedule so that their record looks better. Never seen that before.

mwc sucks!

They need to get serious and put Paul Quinn, or maybe Texas Woman's U on the schedule.

If it is about easy wins, aren't you better off having a home date against a patsy then going nonconference on the road to UTSA? If UTSA insisted on a home and home, shouldn't TCU just blow them off? Can't TCU just schedule the way most schools do? This is really, really weird to me.

Didn't we have a home-and-home with someone like this not that long ago? UTPA or someone? I've seen this before with UTEP and NMSU, but for them it's because there's nobody else nearby to play.

heck yes SMU has done this too. UTPA is a good example. This year we go to Centenary which is no better than the southland level.

In football, why are we going to Ark State two years in a row? There are some bothersome things on Mustang35's future schedule chart.

We don't go to Arkansas State two years in a row according to any schedule I have seen.

I just think a home and home in the same year with a nonconference team that isn't a bigtime rival is downright weird.

They are Division 1-A and beatable. Much better than trading a home and home with a Division 1-AA.
