Dawg, how about Matt Stafford? He's guiding UGa to a nice win but I suppose he's forcing the ball a lot with three picks earlier in the game.

My wife teaches at SMU and I've been watching SMU (in person) more than any other team the last four years. Last year was so great, except Tulane, and hopefully this is just another Tulane. Really, after watching the scrimmages, no QB has stepped up but UNT's QB isn't a Heisman hopeful and the rest of the SMU squad should have covered.

UCLA up 6-0 on Rice w/ 3 to go in the first.

You can't give up on these guys because there was so much that unexpectedly happened last year (TCU, UH, UAB, UTEP). However, it's a killer to go into your first home game with an 0-2 record.

agreed, but with our "depth" at running back you would have thought we could have put up more than 6. and what about the penalties/unforced errors? that surely reflects coaching. i'm just getting really sick of all the nonsense.

as to stafford, he's pretty much a god here. you can't go anywhere without hearing his name. definitely preferred over joe t3 by the fans

I hear you. Houston was down 30-14 last week to Rice. We have an experienced team with a very strong QB and came back to win by one. If we got down and didn't get the necessary momentum, Rice could've won just like UNT did today. I suspect Rice and UNT are similarly matched, as the Owls are down 13-0 early in the second at UCLA now. [Actually, UNT's going to get the edge on Rice until the Owls prove they can beat someone. Also, the Sun Belt looks rather weak this year when ULL (preseason conf pick) lays an egg two weeks in a row.]

Generally, PB hasn't done nearly as well as Briles has at Houston in about the same amount of time. This was a set back game and SMU has to respond with a statement game next week or I'll be subjected to some woeful games later in the year. Lame duck coached games are the pits.

I'm interested in what PB's comments are about the game.

Observations from the game:

We are slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Slow off the ball on both sides, slow to develop plays, slow to adjust - actually we never adjust, frickin slow to punt the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were not ready to play. Bennett's fault.

Our offense is sooooooooooo basic.

Willis has a pop gun for an arm - really.

The juco quarterback looked pretty decent and what does Bennett do???? Never puts him back in. HE at least looked like he knew what he was doing...........

That stupid formation where our receiver motions, then stops right beside the quarterback - everybody in the stadium knows a run off tackle is coming - Phil..............

You have to use a sun dial to time the amount of time it takes DeMyron to get to the line of scrimmage - sorry...........

Number 81 is going to get the ball you idiots!!!!!!!! He accounted for 134 of their 143 passing yards...........

Number 8 is going to drop back then run you idiots!!!!!

Does Phil know how to make an in game adjustment??????????

NTSU's campus sucks

Fouts Field sucks - although their sound system is a tiny bit better than our POS sound system.

Denton sucks....................................

ByeBye Bennett! I can't wait for Orsini to give this guy the pink slip. Thank god we at least now have a seemingly capable AD!

It is clear UNT won because they have better facilities to bring in recruits. We should build more football facilities.

Think about how bad we would be without Ford! That's a scary thought.

We were much better under Rossley and Cavan in the Cotton Bowl. We also recruited better players.

I never liked Bennett from the moment I met him. I liked Jerry, but Phil is just a [deleted]. He never gave two [deleted] about his staff, especially the trainers or the equipment managers. We were just "in the way"

That said, most coaches aren't the most approachable people, but most coaches can also.. coach! You can't be a [deleted] coach AND be an [deleted]. What a joke. FIRE HIM!! I'm sick of being teased and harassed for being a fan of a school that I love so dearly :(

Disgusted by this game. Our offense and special teams looked HORRIBLE. You cannot tell me that UNT's talent is that much better than ours.

Throwing a pass to the sideline behind the line of scrimmage didn't work the first 10 times. DON'T KEEP DOING IT!!

The beginning of the second half we looked like we were going to have success with different playcalling. Why did we go back to the original plan after that?

In case anyone didn't see, Demyron is injured, came out in the 2nd half not dressed out and on crutches with a boot on.

Rotating QBs again? Seriously?

Tonight was the first time I left a game before the end. I was always all for giving Bennett the benefit of the doubt, but tonight I saw bad play calling, stupid mistakes, and lack of discipline. That comes down to coaching. Everyone in the football department not hired by Orsini needs to be replaced asap.

Me, to DeMyron: "I hope you get better."
DeMyron: "Me too."

From his response, I got that he doesn't know what the prognosis is. Broken foot? That would suck. Broken ankle? Sucks more.
