24-6After weeks of reading posts on this board calling us scum, refusing to call us by our proper name, or just being downright insulting I would love to reciprocate with the same level class some SMU fans demonstrated.
But I wont do that. All our say is good game stangs, tough loss. I feel your pain. Good Luck the rest of the season and see y'all next year on the Boulevard.
After being in Lubbock last week I can honestly say that the UNT fans were pretty classy. They were friendly before the game and took pity on us afterwards. Nice sportsmanship.
Good luck on the rest of the season. Womack + Wishbone = Heisman
Class of 89
Seriously, good luck with the rest of your season. You guys will bounce back. I can empathize with how you are feeling, believe me I've been there before.
Enjoyed meeting some of you.
Congrats on the biggest win your program has had in quite some time. Yes, we lost tonight but the series is now 30-something to 4.
I've got some questions though... Is it Eagles or Mean Green? Make up your minds. You can't have it both ways. Do you have any traditions of your own? The victory bell is stolen from UCLA/USC. The cannon is stolen from Texas. The tortilla chucking is stolen from Tech. Why do you shoot fireworks behind the scoreboard where nobody can see them? And why is the only light you leave on in the entire stadium right where the fireworks are being shot from? I sorry to say that I spent any time at that prison looking campus. You can have it. I'll not be back.
So much for being gracious in defeat...
No, you have never lost to UNT. You don't know what it's like. Sir, shooting-star, sir.

Nice to see the level of class (low to none at all) demonstrated by SMU remains constant even in defeat.
but to answer your questions: biggest win- not really. I'd rank any of the recent conference championships or bowl win above it. Mean Green is a nickname, Eagles is the mascot. You can have it both ways. Army does it with a mule mascot/black knights for nickname, Alabama- elephant mascot/Crimson Tide nickname, Auburn-Tigers nickname/War Eagle mascot....you get the idea Victory bell and canon? Are you serious? Those 'traditions' arent unique to those institutions you listed. I've seen bells at dozens of schools as well as canons too. You're right about the tortilla thing though-I'm not a fan of it and think that needs to go. Fireworks- They aren't special for this game. They shoot them off at the end of every game win or lose. As for the view, guess you had a bad vantage point. Had no trouble seeing them from where I was.
UNT is to SMU, as SMU is to tons of other schools.
If you beat UNT, everyone nods because it is expected. If you lose to UNT, everyone thinks the sky is falling. Then request's our next opponent's jersey, refund their future plane tickets, give back season tickets and no longer support their team.
To the classy people:
It was great meeting and seeing y'all up in Denton. An unfortunate outcome for all of you, but don't get too down. Good luck in the future, see you around Dallas. To the boorish people: You don't want to play UNT because SMU is stuck in the past. SMU is no longer in a major conference, cannot field a competitive team against UNT, will not see a major bowl game, will never regain the status it once had and lost due to its bountiful arrogance (which for no reason still exists), is no longer a research university (now lower on that classification that UTA and UTD), is no longer the best university in town, has no graduate programs except for an MBA and a JD that will only get you hired in Dallas, will never have another Doak, and will continue to fall behind better universities with a real research program, and will eventually be consigned to the selfsame dustbin in which old, outdated and needlessly arrogant schools who pay off US News now reside. It's been real. Now go learn how to spell fire, you, and answer; go learn how to play football, and go learn how to dust, because a lot of NT grads have some housecleaning to do after tonight's parties.
Just let us know when your major conference picks up that at-large bid thats floating around. Sir, shooting-star, sir.

Hey, I know we're not in one either. That's very true. We're even, and under normal circumstances, a very good match for now. Good luck.
