SMU FOOTBALL is a FREAKING JOKE NOWI feel like I have been played. These coaches talk a damn big game but haven't done jack. It is not the players fault. We have horrible game plans and the play calling is a joke. They need to let these players suceed by opening the playbook some. I get caught in the crap every year saying this year is a bowl year blah blah blah. Not to mention what recruit wants to come to SMU now. We have the facilities for a CUSA school we dont have a coach. Fire Bennett now and hire the biggest name we can find. Hell were SMU we can pay any price. Surely some big name coach would like the challenge. I am not attending the Sam Houston St. game and hope no one does out of boycot for a new coach. Can't we hire Hayden Fry for two seasons to turn this around oo someone else.
I have so much respect for you old timers on here. I've only been following SMU since 2001 and I can only barely keep myself from abandoning the cause. I can't imagine 20 years of it. Maybe being alive/old enough to remember a non-pathetic SMU gives you all hope?
Haha....SMU couldn't get Ashton.
You know, one of the worst parts?? Watching all the 1st year SMU students who went to Denton w/ painted faces and their newly memorized SMU cheers, getting slowly more and more depressed throughout the game...poor guys, they are in for a long 4 years.
49 years here.
And here's a crusty senior who survived the 0-12 campaign as a member of the "mustang 11" as a freshman, believed in defended Phil Bennett through all these years of losing, hell I even proposed to my fiance in front of the Doak Walker statue forever tying her to Mustang Football.
And tonight I did something for the first time I haven't done in three years...I walked out of the game before the final whistle, absolutely disgusted with everything that is SMU football. Bennett needs to go, the staff needs to go, everything connected to the past 20 years needs to go! ---------------
