I would like to buy a marine battery or two to power up our satelite and tv...

does anyone know about how much they run.. I went to sam's and they ran from $115-169... is that accurate? or should i just go to bass pro shop and buy them there?

If your going to spend 300 + I would invest in a small generator.

Pep Boys, Sam's etc.

yes but i don't want to spend $350+ because the generator is extremely heavy, extremely loud and just flat out annoying..

marine batteries seem to be much easier to deal w/ and less noisy

and i have yet to see a generator under 450 anywhere.. even the pawn shops were $375+

HOnda Generators are extremely quiet. OR, you could use a converter on your car abttery with enough power to run a tv..those only cost around $75 for a really powerful one.

Here is a link on ebay for a generator I bought for tailgaiting. Several advatages:

1) Its new. Bought directly from the distributor so it's comes with a warrenty.
2) Not heavy or bulky. the thing only weighs 40 lbs. and its only about 2'x2'.
3) Not loud. Its only 60db. I put it in front of my explorer and tailgated out of the back. Over the sound of the TV, conversation and ambient noise around us....I couldn't even hear the thing. A friend asked me if I thought my battery would be dead by the end of the day because he thought I was running off an inverter and had no idea the generator was running.
4)Fuel efficient- It has a 1 gallon tank and I ran it from 11:00am-5:30pm without a refill,
5) Plenty of power. Its rated for 1250 peak/800 sustained volts I had all the power I needed. I ran a 20' TV, a DirecTV receiver, an electic cooler/mini fridge, and a large fan to keep us cool-- Had plenty of power for all of that.
6) Economical- Check out the price $99.99. With shipping my total was $118.98- Cheaper than a marine battery and this will be giving me power for years after that marine battery is in the landfill.

I went to Academy and boat a marine battery for $69. Brand name is Stowaway. The particular battery is the one with 720 cranking amps and says Trolling, Starting, and RV on the side. I have run a satellite with two tvs for three consecutive weekends without having to charge it.

If you happen to be at the Cowboys game this weekend, you can swing by the tailgate and see the setup.

I have the Vector 400 watt, like this one: http://www.powersystemsdirect.com/Vector_Manufacturing/400_Watt_12V_Power_Inverter_VEC024_Maxx_SST_1487.php?manufacturers_id=108. Think I paid about $35 bucks for it. Good and quiet. I run a 20" LCD and a 20" tube tv and it has never not handled it. I think Academy has them, but they are a little more expensive there.
