The Man For the Job - Jerry Glanville

Postby nola80 » Wed Sep 13, 2006 10:00 am

Jerry Glanville is just the type of excitment SMU needs at the head coach. The guy is very likeable and would do an amazing job at recruiting. He is currently the defensive coordinator for the University of Hawaii and looking for a head coaching position. Plus, he is a master with the run an shoot offense (he practicaly invented it) which is what a school like SMU would do best given our current situation. He is the only man for the job.

LMAO.. right! Why don't we just hire Elvis along with him. Good grief
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I want some of whatever it is you're smoking.

nola80 wrote:....The guy is very likeable and would do an amazing job at recruiting.
He's maybe the goofiest coach in history and would be laughed out of HS coaches' offices and players' homes.

nola80 wrote:He is currently the defensive coordinator for the University of Hawaii and looking for a head coaching position.
He is? How do you know he's looking, and not content to serve as an assistant and live in Hawaii? Got a link?

nola80 wrote:Plus, he is a master with the run an shoot offense (he practicaly invented it)
Actually, Mouse Davis is the brain behind that offense. Yes, Glanville is goofy enough to install it, I suppose. But as you already pointed out, he's a DEFENSIVE coach. He didn't invent anything on offense.

Hell, I'd rather they bring back Cavan (read my past posts and you'll know I'm not a fan) or dig up Knute Rockne's corpse.

Besides, when Glanville comes to Dallas and starts to win big with his run-and-shoot offense .... er, defense, we'll soon pack the house, and Ford Stadium won't be big enough for him to leave his customary tickets for Elvis.

Other than that, he's a great idea.

I am sorry he doesn;t have the credentials of a Texas High School Football coach, which is what you all want. Are the elvis coaches the extent of your critisism. Look everyone, in case you have been in a coma for the last week here is a news flash.....SMU LOST TO A COMMUNITY COLLEGE. This give Bennett a chance talk sickens me. Look as far as I am concerned keep the guy on as a cordinator, but take him off the face of our program.

Didn't say we should keep Bennett (although I'd like to see him win and enjoy the results of his work). But if a new coach is hired, Glanville will not - and should not - even get a phone call.

Who is saying "give Bennett a chance?" Perhaps you read Copeland Dowrong's post and didn't realize that it is satire - Copeland is from Copeland, as in Copeland. What is your obsession with people calling for High School coaches? Everyone wants a big name coach. Also, you are an idiot. Please stop posting and/or die.

Isn't Jerry Glanville in his late sixties and
be nearing 70 before his very first class became seniors?

Just my opinon but that guy is too old to be in charge of the
SMU turn-around.

Earth to NOLA80...Where were you during the late 80s-early 90s?They ran the Run and Shoot then, so why in the world would we want to run it now?Get a clue.

BTW, you'd have a better chance of Elvis picking up tickets at the Will Call than SMU hiring Gary Glanville.

Who is your next suggestion for a head coach? Henry Winkler because he played a coach in "The Waterboy?" Gimme a break.

Glanville put his name into the hat when Sam Houston State was looking for a new head coach to replace the retiring Ron Randleman at the end of the 2004 season. I don't think he ever got a call from my Div. 1-AA school.

Why don't you go back and read the past 4 years of posts and you can get caught up and then address the situation at least with some knowledge of where the other posters stand. Your arrogance as to having all the answers and implying that we are all idiots and or children is getting boring. And please quit yelling with the all-caps.

I think you should leave the poster alone, everyone on hear is a mustang club doner or a big swinging dck who was entitled to their opinion so let the guy vent. The program blows and to be honest I could have done a better job rebuiling the program than past ADs.

I am tired of him referring to us as "you guys", as in "you guys do not know anything", and spouting off with a condesending attitude like his is the answer to all of our problems. He is entitled to his opinion but he should realize that just because he has been posting for all of one day that he is not putting out anything new or uesful on the board.

No, everyone here is not a Mustang Club doner ( I am) and if you can do it better please have at it. Also, he knows so much, I bet he could answer for himself without your help.
