Keep this in mind when we are all talking about how bad things are (and have been since 1986) on the Hilltop: in the last twenty years the Evil Empire in Austin has just one more national title than we do.
For thirty-five seasons the Evil Empire was the biggest underachieving football program in the land.
I HATE the University of Texas!

Was the Evil Empire consistently ranked in the bottom 10 of programs during that time?

To Texas fans and most big-time college football fans (the Michigans, Notre Dames, USCs, Miamis, etc.) it doesn't matter whether you're ranked #2 or #115. If you didn't end the season #1 your season wasn't a success.

Every post you make is like this -- you COULD focus on the improvement the team showed at the end of last season, but that's just not you -- it's more fun to relish in the misery of PonyFans who want the team to succeed. Think of every name that would get me banned from this site, and apply them to yourself.

So now we're comparing our success to Texas? Hmm.. compare to Texas who in the last 20 years has played at a higher level and has more bowl games than any former SWC team. Who in the last 35 years has more SWC and Conference Championships than any former SWC school.
Nah.. I would rather just take a season over. 500 right now. (Although this is a huge stretch right now). Look for heads to roll after we lose Saturday.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

Tell me where that improvement at the end of last season is now. Our offense has scored 9 points in 2 games! I hardly relish in the misery of PonyFans as like others on this board as I have been enduring it for almost 20 years now.

Who remembers who won the SWC championship in 1986? On the other hand, who remembers who won the National Championship that year? That is what counts.

Texas A&M under Jackie Sherrill won the SWC in 1986-QB Kevin Murray led the Aggies from behind against SMU in a 39-35 Aggie victory in one of the greatest college games ever played at Texas Stadium

That was 19-17 at A&M, with an ESPN audience tuned in. The game in 1986 was won by the Ags 39-35, that was a great game. The SMU band got a 15 yard penalty that led to the Ags winning score.

True. But outside fans of the former SWC who else in America remembers the SWC champions over the last 20-35 years? They remember the national champions.

I can assure you, we won't be winning a national championship anytime soon.
