The Sam Houston State Bearkats football team DID play like a Div. II school tonight! (That one's for both jtstang & Stallion! Should have taken the wager, guys!) I've seen better from my alma mater's football team and tonight they stunk up Ford Stadium so bad I thought I had taken a wrong turn and had ended up at Love Canal!
Needless to say, I expected a better showing. The Bearkat faithful are calling for head coach Todd Whitten's head on a platter. 3-7 in his debut last year. It's not looking better for this year. He coached at a Div. II school (Tarleton State) before coming to SHSU and he's also a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. The Lumberjacks are to the Bearkats what the Froggies are to the Mustangs. SHSU should have never hired him. But, enough of this...
GREAT GAME MUSTANGS! It was great to see the Mustangs clicking on all cylinders again. Where were these guys last week in Denton?
I'll be back for next week's game against Arkansas State in the proper attire! Harvard Red and Yale Blue! GO MUSTANGS!
P.S. Even though I was wearing my neon orange Polo shirt, I was wearing my SMU ball cap! Yeah, I was a schizophrenic fan tonight!

Atleast I'm not the only one still wondering that.

The game in Denton, as much as it hurt, was one game. Last night helped return us to our senses a bit. Next week will be a better test against a pretty darn good football team.
MM65, I have to say that you're one of my favorite posters on this board. Love the story about how you got your name. But you were, without a doubt, one of the most annoying people I've ever sat next to. (I was down two rows to the right). Can't wait until we get you back on our side. Holy smokes.

The game last night had a major component in it that wasn't there last weekend, we actually threw downfield. Great game by the Ponies last night.

To me, it is all about putting the players in position to be successful.
Botton line, we did not run the same old boring plays as were called last week.
We have the players and the know how. Let's have it all on the same page like last night.

I still can't get the taste of that North Texas Game outta my mouth. Bennett is going to have to run the table to keep me.

i may not require nine more wins (just eight), but if the guy can't produce that then i say get rid of him. i'm so f*ing sick of watching tcu's success and us waiting until next year. he may be a nice guy and all of that, but if he can't get us in serious running for the conference championship and a bowl then for my alumnus money bring in one who can and will tell the administration this is what i need to turn you into a full time winner, take it or leave it.
btw, yes the game was fun and yes i enjoyed watching us score a lot of points. but the ntsu game is still unacceptable and he has a LOT of making up to do for this fan. it was the tulane dud of last season and those are coaches losses. we'll have enough with talent deficiency losses.

May I ask what I did that annoyed you? And, it's the day after. I'm already back on the Mustangs' side. In fact, I was back on it after the final gun last night.

Mr.Stang'65,
I got some bad news for you sir. I'm superstitious, and I'm pretty sure it was your gnarly orange shirt that finally appeased the pigskin gods and ignited our offense.
So I'm afraid you're going to have to wear Bearcat orange the rest of the season, and just have to put up with the friendly harassment of your section in Ford Stadium.

Well it starts with being the only Bearkat -- well, you and the friends with you -- right smack dab in the middle of the SMU season ticket holders, yelling your lungs out for a team that was being beaten in every way imaginable. Somehow it was less annoying than if SHSU was actually contending.
Oh never mind. It's good to have you back.
