Does anyone understand the equation they use to determine quarterback rating? Something to do with attempts, completions, touchdowns, interceptions, uniform color, which side of the earth the sun came up on .... Willis had to set another record there, too.

Seriously, does anyone know how that formula works?

Here is the Formula:

Yards x 8.4
+
330 x TD
-
200 x INT
+
100 x COMPLETIONS
Add it all up and then divide by attempts
Class of '91

This site reiterates the formula and does the computation:

The top three are in a dead heat:
1 Chris Leak, Florida QB SR 177.5
2 Justin Willis, Southern Methodist QB FR 177.5
3 Troy Smith, Ohio St. QB SR 177.4

Obviously Troy Smith has no business being mentioned in the same breath with Justin Willis and Chris Leak. :D
