My first Home SMU football game

Postby CalallenStang » Mon Sep 18, 2006 5:28 pm

So...I went to my first SMU home football game on Saturday and I didn't know that I would make it to Dallas on time until I got there (a little late, but oh well). I had fun, the team won, it's all good.

Mustangs35SMU - sorry again! I would have called you but I left your number here at home.

MM1965 - I was looking for you, but I didn't see any orange in the SMU section. It would have been nice to meet you.

A few thoughts...

1) There were A LOT more people outside the stadium even after the game started than there were inside the stadium. This trend needs to be reversed.

2) If I were a football recruit at the game, I would have been impressed with the facilities. However, I would have also been disappointed in the fans. "Spirit's the best in the land." What spirit? The fans in my section didn't even clap to the fight song. In their defense, the game was a blowout. Also, why does everyone leave at halftime?

3) I've been on campus before, but once again I was blown away by the beauty of SMU (and the female members of the student body). After visiting Baylor earlier on Saturday and going to a Tulane reception on Sunday, I came away most impressed once again by SMU.

Calallen: Sorry, buddy...didn't know you were going to be at the game! Had I known, I'd have looked you up! I sit in Section 204, row 15, seat 1. I was there...decked out in my neon orange Polo shirt and holding up a SHSU 'Kats flag whenever the opportunity arose (which was not often! *LOL*). I was probably BEHIND you! Let me know the next time you're up for a game. We'll hook up! GO MUSTANGS!

I didn't know I would be there either. We figured we were in Dallas so we would go. I was actually in Section 201 row 9 so you were about as high as I was but you had better seats.

You actually sat in your seats? God lord son! You should have moved to the 50 around MM65. There were plenty of seats as most of the people around him were convinced that he was insane. The Blog was there with his little one and it was a decent turnout. Most leave when the game is over, especially on family weekend when the students are looking for one more really good free meal from the folks. Plus the heat did not help the situation.

Someone suggested I wear it to every game to get the team riled up so that they could keep on winning thru the season...hmmm...;)
