Jeez, that's ironic, considering his question was based on THIS YEAR'S PERFORMANCE!!!!!.
On a similar subject, are you still "giving your heart to SMU" during the alma mater?

Last year Bomar was a redshirt freshman at OU and lost to TCU. Don't kid yourself, redshirt freshmen quarterbacks have a lot to learn. The true measure is how fast they learn in OOC. Willis showed a lot of promise in the Sam Houston game and I hope that carries into the Ark St. game. He needs to show he has picked up on the speed of the game and his confidence in the other 10 players on the field.
Just send 'da money.

Sherrington's reply: "Well, I’ve been proven wrong so much, I don’t even know which way is right."
Kevin is a good guy.

Where do you think early-season rankings come from? Take the best player away from any team, and you'd think that team would drop. But even though Vince Young went pro, last year's performance showed the talent coming back. Yes, last year is in the past, but it's the only starting point there is when evaluating this year's teams, at least in the early going.
As I said previously, we have yet to come even close to beating a Div 1-A team this year so it is hard to see how we are #10 of the 1-A schools in Texas.

But OU's coach didn't say "woe is me, I have a red-shirt freshman quarterback" therefore I won't gamble to win, only play not to be embarrassed!

He also had a team full of all-conference and all-America players around his young QB last year. Makes it easier to bring along a new QB when you have guys like that around him.

Because we beat five of the seven teams on the list we played. You need some reading comprehension help.
By my count SMU hasn't beaten ANY of the teams on that list this year. Also, which 5 teams did SMU beat last year?? By my count, they only beat 4. They beat Rice, UTEP, Houston and TCU. And that was last year.

Look, I'm not suggesting moving us up into top 5 territory. But we're clearly not the bottom of the list. I've got us at 8. Texas, TCU, Tech, and the Aggies are in a different league. You've then got UTEP (who we beat), Houston (who we beat), and Baylor (who we lost to). Next is us followed by Rice and North Texas.
you feel you should be ranked 2 spots ahead of a team that just, not only beat you 2 weeks ago, but beat you 24-6?
Now thats arrogance.
Give 'em hell red!

A couple of points:
1) To the posters above who suggest that in evaluating a team you only look at this year, that's making a judgement based on incomplete information at best only three games into a season. You *have* to look at last season, particularly the last half of last season. And the data suggest that we did about as expected at Tech, lost one we shouldn't have at North Texas, and did better than expected against Sam Houston, that game was won so handily and completely by us. I'd suggest the jury's still out but you still have to put us above Rice and North Texas.
2) In response to the North Texas poster, you folks ended the season at 161 Sagarin. Like us last year against TCU, you stole a game. Congrats on that. Are you better than 161? Probably. But not better than us.
My expectations for Saturday? We beat a team in Arkansas State that would do well in the CUSA race if they were a member of this conference.
Again, North Texas was ONE game. Like TCU did last year against us, we lost to an inferior team.
You'll see.

Hey sunshine, NTSU spanked us two weeks ago. You may "give your heart to SMU" every weekend, but your brain is clearly somewhere else.

And by the same reasoning we were better than TCU last year.

Wrong again, sunshine. The gap between SMU and TCU in terms of talent and accomplishments makes that loss by TCU, as you pointed out correctly, a loss to an inferior team. There is no such discrepancy in talent and accomplishments between SMU and NTSU. That was a legitimate win by NTSU.
