....and that's why SMU is perrenially at the bottom of NCAA and Conference offensive statistics because they have workhorses playing while better athletes are not playing or developing. Columbus Givens just about wasted a year of development for a workhorse to set a new low in yards per catch. He's still not playing enough although if you look at the last 5-6 games he's made a string of big plays. Now is the time to get him on the field as much as possible.

No, Zack Sledge is an spook for a secret government agency that reports only to the President's Cheif of Staff. His backstory involves Cold War dead drops and black ops in the jungles of southeast Asia.

And he has his own theme song.

He has NEVER scored a TD and his average per catch over 2 years hovers around 8 yards per catch-those are historically among the smallest numbers for ANY SMU receiver in any year. Who cares if a guy drops a pass here or there-they all do-TO Owens and all the rest. You need players who score TDs and makes big plays. Its ridiculous to have Sledge play over Givens, Sanders OR Chase.

did u see him at the A&M game where he had 70+ yards, and led the team that game?

i would vote Givens and Chase. Chase would be the workhorse on anyone else's team - for us he is the big deep threat - Sledge is o.k. if you have 4 receivers but not until then.

5th or 6th receiver-you forgot Pellerin and Warren-there's another who hasn't made the plays we need at Receiver-PS I know he's an outstanding punt returner.

Did you see him in every other game? Also, not sure how 70 yards is a career game.

Another game and another Chase receiving touchdown. !30 yards on 3 catches from our best receiver. However, I will give Sledge props for being a decent backup QB and special teams player :-)

How bout more sledge and chase?

BrianTinBigD wrote:Zach Sledge is short, never open, and when he does catch a ball I can never remember when he broke a tackle or made a big play. Bobby Chase is our leading receiver over the last 2 years and also the back to back team Offensive MVP. Zach Sledge is a great practice player. It always amazes me that "Coach" can't actually see offensive talent. Whether it was ignoring Bobby his sophmore year, Martin last year, or Willis this year our coaching "eye" for offensive talent may need a trip to get some Laser eye surgery.

How was the performance from sledge tonight?...and how was the performance from Chase...hum great? Okay So both players should get some PT. From my perspective they put in sledge because he is an all american blocker at wide reciever and he can throw about an 70 yd touchdown too. What an athlete! Chase did great tonight too! Congrats to both and YOU posters don't ever say Sledge should not be on the field he had his hands in at least 14 points tonight.

GO mustangs!!
