Tulane's Dso we put up a bill on shsu and asu, but does anyone know what tulane's defense looks like? what are our chances at having the same sort of success?
I just got home from the LSU-Tulane game. The final score was 49-7, although Tulane didn't look completely inept...really.
Their starting QB got knocked out of the game. Don't know the nature of the injury, but he took a pretty ugly hit. The back-up isn't too swoof. Tulane's offensive line actually looked pretty good at times, making holes for a pretty good RB (#19) against LSU's d-line. He was able to make good cuts after getting thru the holes in the line. We need to contain #19, or he could pull a Jamario Thomas on us if we're not careful. Tulane's D-line is FAST. They put pressure on Russell (LSU' QB) several times and sacked him on LSU's own 4 yard line. Linebacker core isn't bad either. I would say their biggest weakness on D are the corners, who got burnt and juked several times--even on quick passes to the sideline. Punter and Kicker are terrible. Punt return team was able to get downfield a few times. Bottom line--Tulane is not a pushover. They showed flashes tonight. We better not get too cocky and focus on doing what we did tonight--whatever that was...DAMN I wish I was there. Oh yeah, CONGRATULATIONS MUSTANGS!!! Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
Thanks BR Stang. I agree we cannot let up. We have not shown that we have the depth of talent nor the mental capacity to take anyone lightly. Tulane will be at home and in that crap happy dome. Sucks playing on a field without a crown or any other indication that one is playing on a football field. SMU has had two confidence builders but now is the time to step up to the next level. It is conference time and we have proven that we will lose focus against a Katrina team (last years Charlie Foxtrot). The Mustangs best take this game deadly serious and play with a renewed abandon.
You are right that we cannot take anyone lightly, but I would say our depth looks pretty good right now. We had three good RBs out and still managed more than 200 yards rushing. For most of the fourth quarter we had our second and third string defense on the field and did pretty damn well. What do you mean by "nor the mental capacity..."? The field in Ford Stadium does not have a crown either...or was that what you were refering to?
After the Denton Dibacle, I can't imagine any of the Mustangs will take anyone lightly.
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!
You guys make an ex-player laugh. No player or coach ever!!!!!!!!!!!! takes another team lightly...until the fourth quarter when they are ahead by 24 or so points. The only ones who take a team "lightly" are the alums and media fools.
SMU can't take anyone lightly when we are up by 24. The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
