SMU WILL WIN AT TULANE!!!

Yeah, this Tulane team has the talent on offense and size on defense to be a real problem for us. Mix in a little emotion, homecoming and the fact they didn't give up 60 to LSU, and we got ourselves a football game.

They put on their uniforms. They knew what they were getting into.

Being up 42 zip by the third quarter meant LSU's starters and second teamers were already showered and in their jammies. Also, Tulane's special teams and offense set LSU up for such impressive TD scoring drives of 39, 34, 19, and 6 yards. TU's "physical and superior" defense didn't have many yards TO give up in the first place with that field position.

What can I say? I'm just proud of them for hanging in there and showing great character after Tulane roared back. We all knew this was going to be difficult game, but I believed we were going to win.

I'm not tooting my horn, but I just had a feeling that after the way they showed up, against Sam Houston State, that something had turned.

But Stallion - I thought they Tulane was full of athletes far superior to the Stangs?

Never said that. I said they had athletes comparable to or better than SMU . I said that Tulane was not a "crappy" team, "SMU would not beat Tulane like a red headed stepchild" and that I saw this game as a "jump ball". In essence with 6 minutes left it was a jump-ball which SMU won on Jesse Henderson's big play. And then I said SMU's offense line would not physically manhandle Tulane's defensive line and you could mark that down. In fact, Tulane's Defensive Line manhandled SMU's offensive line-SMU's running backs averaged less than 1 yard per carry and Tulane would have had 9 sacks again this year if Willis didn't do an outstanding job evading the rush. SMU's offensive line is still a very weak link. In fact, I think they had more crucial red flags on SMU TDs and other big plays called back then they had outstanding blocks resulting in even average running plays.

Yeah, who can forget the false start when we had less than a yard to go to get a TD that would have helped us ice the game.

weren't there 2 TDs called back? One by Emmanuel Sanders who continues to impress.

I think the Sanders penalty resulted in the 23 FG in which the holding and Darrin Johnson brain-dead procedure penalty were involved.

The second holding penalty on Dorsey's TD run still led to the TD when Willis hit Sanders on the hot read when Tulane blitzed on 3rd-and-10. I thought that was great recognition on Sanders' part to identify the blitz and step right through the middle and weave his way through tacklers.

And if you noticed, Willis threw to 8 different receivers.
