yeah I believe they did-although it could have been a greyshirt-not sure. Several schools offered him in the last month of the recruiting season.

When is James going to figure out his continued criticism of SMU is a direct result of him and the rest of his buddies pulling a Bomar.

Exactly right, he is one of the huge reasons why SMU has not been good in twenty years. Mr. pay cut to go to the NFl and Mr. cash in my shoes after practice put SMU in the position they are at now. It is another case of I broke it so you go fix. He needs to either go all out and support the program or shut up. By the way, if SMU is so bad why did his daughter just graduate from there.

We are really bad and have been for the last twenty years--that has been primarily our fault, not the NCAA, not our past players, or anyone else and my daughter and son also go to SMU. Need a reminder? Did anyone catch the North Texas score last weekend?

its all Craig James and Eric Dickerson's fault!!!!!!!! What a bunch of ignorant happy losers you all are. Meanwhile we have Jon Koncak coming to speak at our BB Luncheon and each one of you suckups will be foaming at the mouth like giddy cheerleaders just to stroke his large hand despite the fact he has admitted breaking NCAA Rules. What about Lance McILlhenney and others from the 1980s. Should we erase Michael Carter and the rest from our history books. I think they are either Mustangs or we should wipe that entire decade from the SMU Media Guide and we should count all games as losses. And you want to know why players from that era wont have anything to do with SMU.

Only if they're standing over an opposing player in the media guide..

BTW.. love the ignorant happy losers stroking his large hand comment. Your point was driven home through creative thought there.. or is it envy?

No Stallion I have not nor ever will foam at the mouth for Jon Koncak. "Ignorant happy loser" would also not be something I described myself as (I also just saw you putting everybody down in another post for calling names, a little hypocritical?) My point is this; Eric Dickerson and Craig James have been very critical towards the SMU program for a while, ecspecially the last 5 years. They publically bash SMU on TV and in the DMN every chance they get. If it not been for them taking money, SMU would not be in the position they are at now. You can also not tell me they did not know what they were doing. I also do blame McIllhaney and anyone else who took money (the difference is McIllhaney supports the program every chance he gets and does not go around publically bashing it). As far as wiping decades from the media guide and counting all games as losses, we have already been punished, a little thing called the death penalty, and we continue to be punished up to now. I have spoken to James and Dickerson during practice and at other functions and they praise SMU and the program. When they get a microphone in their face it is a different story. Why not support the program that made them and that they destroyed. I dont understand it.

Just for your information, Lance McIlhenney is at every football game, he comes to Mustang Club events, he has a spot on the Boulevard, he cheers for the team, he participates. As you yourself pointed out, Jon Koncak is speaking at a dinner to help SUPPORT the program.

We can disagree all we want about who is or is not responsible, but the simple fact is that Craig James thinks it's fun to take gratuitous pot shots at the school that gave him an education, exposure, and, well, a little extra that they shouldn't have and he willingly, knowingly accepted without apology. Even assuming right now (as I'm sure you do), at this very moment,SMU is still one of the worst teams in football (despite being 6-2 in its last eight games with 3 wins against bowl teams), there is absolutely no reason for Craig James to mention it totally out of context of what he was talking about (Illinois) except just mean-spirited bitterness. Or the other night in the Tulsa game, during the witty reparte with Doug Flutie, did he see fit to remind the viewing audience that the Ponies have a winning record? Did he mention that SMU is the 2nd to last team to beat TCU? Did he mention that SMU has a new athletic director that seems to be taking things in the right direction? Did he take the opportunity with a national audience to do or say anything positive? Nope. Again, you can believe what you want, but if you think that the constant negativity, even in the face of signs of life, is not a cancer to the program that continues to drag it down, then you're blind.

Wasn't Lance critical of the SMU athletic department as recently as last year? Who in the HELL should not be critical of SMU athletics. SMU deserves the criticism until they have done what is necessary to put a competitive program on the field. I still believe to this very moment that SMU can not say that it is on a level competitive field with its natural and traditional rivals.I wish I'd had their platform about 15 years ago and I really would have laid into that idiot Ken Pye. I have more contempt for those that knew full well that Ken Pye had dismantled the athletic program and yet did nothing but get in line for Pom-Poms for the Pep Rally.

Same song 15th verse.. we suck, Pye killed the program, IF I'd had their platform I would have..

Well guess what my man.. you can't do anything except help the program today, tomorrow. Kenneth Pye is dead.. and although you, me and the majority of the people on the board don't agree with what he did.. let the man rip. So tired of the same vomit you spill on this board. We all know and understand what you're saying for the 80th time.. but you can't continually cast stones.. forgive and move-on.. everyone else is. It's the idiots that continually bring up the past and don't look to the future that will always bring SMU athletics down.. whether that's athletes or fans.

Craig James and Stallion are very simliar in my mind..
