Damn Bookie!

Postby bagice » Sun Oct 08, 2006 12:41 am

I always place a bet on SMU with my bookie, I have used the same one for years....and believe me, he has made out pretty good.

On Tuesday I put a K on the mustangs at +10.5 with this clown. Well....about 2 hours before kickoff he calls me and asks me if I want to take the bet down since Willis is suspended...Unfortunately I am drunk and say no....well this guy is a sports fan born in Dallas and takes great pride in giving me [deleted] about how much SMU has sucked forever and he says "Just giving you a chance to not lose one"....well, in my drunken state I get mad and say I change my bet, 50k on SMU and I will come down on the spread, +10....Well, of course he jumps on it, even says he needs verifcation, brings a friend on to hear me repeat the bet of 50k on SMU at +10 and then even holds me on the phone for about 5 minutes so he can record it.

Well....SMU covers and this guy is not answering my calls...I want my 50 large! He damn sure woulda taken it from me, I expect him to pay!

Bagice, if he doesn't pay up, send his name/address/phone everything you've got to the IRS. Tell 'em (anonymously, of course) he was bragging at a party about all the cash he was making selling crack and running numbers.

Question for the gamblers:

When a situation like the SMU/UTEP game occurs, do you have the opportunity to change or remove your bet? Obviously the line changed. Did the O/U change? That was far more vulnerable than the line itself. Just curious if the Vegas gambling allows for adjustments due to last minute injuries or events or is that just why they call it gambling?
