It was a ridiculously stupid call. Three timeouts, ball on about your own 45, momentum on your side and with an excellent punter. The play was completely stuffed-UTEP was not fooled in the least. If you are running an obvious gadget play and it fools NO ONE then you then it was a bad call. Hell at least Tulane had SMU completely fooled. The Gate is simply too obvious in a situation like that.

UTEP was fooled, it was just too slow developing. The ball was snapped before he hit the center, then had to run past the center, past 2 defenders on a corner and make 2 yards. It's just an ill-designed play.,

Exactly. There's a difference between running a fake and broadcasting that you are running a gadget play. Nobody bit on it, and because of the gadget formation there's no chance of simply powering our way forward for a few yards. There were 2 occasions last night where the UTEP commentators called our coaches stupid (that one and one of the third downs where we ran a pass play that was too short even if completed. How bad is it that radio guys in El Paso are making fun of our play calling?!
