yeah, 6 bowl eligible teams last year, UCF, HOUSTON, TULSA, MEPHIS, S. MISS., UTEP. 4 of those went to bowls I know (UTEP, TULSA,UCF,HOUSTON) did memphis or S. MISS make a bowl? I do see your point about needing be high in the conf. standings, but if Houston can do it . . . so can we . . . right?
All six of those teams made bowl games. So if the competition in the CUSA means that we will have those same 6 teams eligible again, we need to win 8 games to make a bowl.

Now that my Froggies have blown two MWC games and assuming we can win at least three more games it looks like we will be headed to the Armed Forces Bowl vs a team from CUSA. What a great game it would be for the Ponies and Frogs to hook it up for the Iron Skillet in a bowl game. Best of luck for the rest of your season and here's hoping for a late Dec. match between our teams. I think the Frogs could furnish 30,000 butts in the seats if SMU could bring 15,000 then we would have a sellout on ESPN national TV. Just like old times!

Can't we change the date of that game to the 27th of December? I will be forced to watch it on TV if it ever became reality because I visit the family in St. Louis during that time!
Oh come on...where are your priorities??? :D

Your right. That's why I have to visit my mother first especially since Dad is no longer with us. SMU comes second, the Cardinals third, the Rams fourth, and Missouri fifth.

huh?

you saying that those 6 teams are going to be bowl eligible again? or that the compeition in CUSA is good enough that in order for SMU to get a bowl bid we need 8 wins?????

BOTH...if they make bowl games again this year, we will need to establish ourselves in the top 5 in CUSA

therefore 7 or 8 wins will be a lock for a bowl bid.

I disagree with 8 wins needed to make a bowl this year, but I guess we will find out that answer in about 6 games.

You may disagree with 8 wins to be a lock for a bowl game but just look back to last season when teams that had records over .500 were sent home early and not going bowling.

well as you stated, all 6 of the teams that were above .500 (houston at 6-6 made one) in our conference made a bowl game . . . so above .500 (or even at .500) seems to be good enough by that argument

very true, but CUSA only has 6 bowl bids to hand out.

not seven, but SIX. if those six teams make a bowl, i find it hard of us to get an at large bid.

Right now, I'm finding it rather hard to believe that Memphis will even be bowl eligible. Their only win is over I-AA UT-Chattanooga. But then again, UAB may get one. If it's UAB, So. Miss., ECU, Houston, Tulsa, and UTEP we would get left out in the cold. But right now it's too hard to tell since nothing seems certain anymore for anyone in C-USA.

By that rational all we have to do is beat one of those 6 teams (which will probably have to happen to win 6 or more games anyway) and that would put us in the 6 bowl games and whichever of those 6 we beat on the oustide looking in.

. . .and actually the conference is only associated with 5 bowls this year (ft worth, birmingham, GMAC, liberty, and New Orleans) so that 6th spot would be an at large as well.

I know that 8 wins would get a bowl, no problem, but there is a shot with 6 is all that i am saying . . . which would be great for a team that has not won more then 5 in the last 9 years.

Who the F cares!!!! We haven't proven that we can get to four wins yet let alone 7 or 8. Let's just focus on Marshall and try to win that one first.
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
