Based on the little info that's out there right now, what they've done looks far worse

93 Mustang....Billy is right there with you. At least there of some of us on this board who stand up for what is right. I will not support this team any longer if they do not reinstate Willis for Marshall. I am making the assumption Willis has not already decided to transfer.

if it was your child, would you want the university giving out "info" and speaking publicly about your child's behavior?

Ya mean like how everyone knows that Willis is suspended for fighting? That's all over the DMN afterall. This double-standard always ticks me right off.

The other 120 hard working players that will be there on Saturday regardless of any right or wrong decisions appreciate your lack of alligance to them. Please stay gone when this is over. I am sure they can make it without you.

my biggest complaint of how media outlets cover sports

Hard not to agree with that. They seem to expect and look for their stories on the police blotters rather than the field.

The only problem with this (which I heartily, partially anyway, agree with) is that the only way to get the University to change the way it handles anything is to hit them where it hurts. By refusing to attend games, give them donations, etc, and by sticking them with a big, public loss of face. It's bad for the current team, but if (and I admit it's still just an if) what we know is right, then it's the University to blame, not angry fans.

When 10,000 people show up as it is no one will notice fewer except the players. And to top it off you are openly saying you do not care by choosing one over the rest. If we sold Ford out weekly and everyone stayed away then a statement might be made. What we have here is total disrespect for the rest of the team.

Nah, if I was in the area I'd still go to games, but what you have from me is a well-earned total disrespect for the administration.

That is your opinion and I respect that. I have my doubts too but will wait until I see what all the facts are.

Well earned total disrespect for the administration is a good way of putting it. This latest debacle is right up there with the Ole Miss collapse at the Cotton Bowl during the Cavan years, Malin-Gate, TCU-Collapse 1997, NTSU loss, and many other "low" points we continually surpass. I'm not opposed to investigating the incident or punishing Willis - last I checked he missed a game - but why hasn't this situation been wrapped up? You cannot tell me that an off campus fight in which no one was arrested or seriously injured warrants more than a one game suspension. I'm not asking for heads to roll, I'm just asking for this thing to be resolved. I'm incredibly pissed at the situation and hope others with bigger checkbooks than mine are similarly outraged and have let Orsini and Turner know it. No other school we play, let alone the BCS conference schools, would be dragging their feet on this non-event like SMU has. Now that Texas/OU weekend is over and Eagles/Cowboys has concluded, prepare for the DMN to start running with this story. Would have been a non-event had they sat Willis for a game, and reinstated him by lunch today.

There are two kinds of people: leaders (Billy Joe) and followers (mrydel). Leaders, like Billy Joe, take a stand on issues and do what is right regardless of the popularity of the decision. Followers, like mrydel, will not stand up for what is right and blindly follow what others tell them to do. Coach Bennett has told you to show up and support the team so you do. Regardless, the athletic department has made a blunder and made a decision at UTEP which likely cost us the game. Like I said, reinstate the starting QB for Marshall and Billy Joe will attend the game. Believe me, I am not alone in my beliefs. I, however, am one of the few who has the balls to say what is right on this board. Bennett, Orsisni, and Turner are wrong...period, and I will not support it.
