Authentic game used Mustang jerseys on ebayWas wondering if any of you have seen the authentic game used jerseys that have been selling on ebay the last few weeks or so. I bought one, and I believe it is authentic, based on the tagging, game wear, comparing the sizing to who wore it, etc.
The guy selling them is out of Georgia I think, and he seems to have a huge stock of them. Was wondering how he might have gotten them. He says he got them directly through the university. Other schools (USC, ND, etc.) auction off their jerseys directly to the public. Anyone familiar with SMU's policy? Would love to get my hands on an authentic basketball jersey.
I bet it is Cavan . . . he stole a bunch when he tucked his tail and ran back to Georgia and now needs the money . . .
Sports, and all that implies.
Good theory.
Guess I should look for basketball jerseys selling from wherever Dement is now. SMU Class of 1993

Re: Authentic game used Mustang jerseys on ebay
Interesting. . . SMU won't let anything else with their name or logo be sold by anyone, anywhere, without it being sold by SMU, but they sell a big lot of authentic game jerseys to some guy in Georgia . . . get a rope. If you can't be a Mustang, marry one !
And that does nothing but hurt SMU and it's exposure to the rest of the city. I have asked at numerous stores, where other schools are in prominent display, and the answer is, that they can't get the merchandise because SMU won't release it to suppliers to sell. So stupid. No wonder we seldom see a kid walking around in an SMU T-Shirt, but always in T-Shirts from other schools, they can buy the others anywhere, and how does that hurt those other schools ? ? ? not at all, in fact it helps them, promotes them, makes that kid maybe want to go there . . . like I said, stupid. If you can't be a Mustang, marry one !
Very True!
Texas, A&M, Tech, TCU, and even UNT do a great job at getting their merchandise around the state and in every sporting good store. When I walk into an Academy or a Sports Authority in Dallas, All i see is UT, A&M, and TCU appearal. Sure wish I could find some SMU gear. I hate going to that damn BookStore to buy SMU stuff. Atleast I have my throwback E.D. and C.J. jersays I got off of ebay.
These jerseys are from the WAC days. They have WAC patches on them. I contacted the guy and told him he was misrepresenting the jerseys since he was saying the exact jersey would be worn by (insert name here) this season. I told him we were not wearing WAC jeresys anymore. He reworded his description a little. He indicated (whether or not true) that he had a contact in the equipment department that got them to him. I really do not believe much of what he told me but then again, I do not really care and I am sure he did not care either.
The old WAC days...Yes, all those countless jerseys....
I believe he found those in the trash when we threw them out after getting an invite to CUSA.
Do NCAA athletes have the option of keeping (or, based on archaic NCAA rules, I'm assuming they might have the option of buying) their jerseys once their eligibility is expired?

Yes, they have the option, but typically they are "purchased" by the athletes parents at small costs. . . just so it is not an unfair advantage to an athlete (stupid NCAA)

At the last home game, a guy had on a jersey with McIlhenny on the back. Mrs. McIlhenny sits near us, and she went down and asked him where he got that . . . he replied Ebay ! ! ! ! If you can't be a Mustang, marry one !
If I'm not mistaken, someone pointed out to another poster on here that there was one of those on ebay a few months ago, and the poster ended up buying it, maybe it was him
They made us buy the jerseys, but if you were smart you would simply not turn it back in after the game. That goes for the helmet, shoes, gloves, ect.
I did a little research a while back on all of the teams in Division 1 that are sponsored by Nike. Of all the teams, and you can imagine how many there were, only two didn't offer any Nike gear for sale from the online store: Memphis and SMU. A few years back, Boise State changed their logo and offered up merchandise for sale where ever they could. ESPN said last year that it was one of the top 25 teams in merchandise sales. I am tired of the same ol' generic stuff found on the online store and the bookstores. What gets me even more is that there is very little stuff to buy with what I consider the official logo. All of it now is that new fangled stuff. It really gets to me that we are in the third largest metropolitan area in the United States, and you can only find SMU gear in about 4 places.
