Supporting Willis

Postby Ponyfan4ever » Thu Oct 12, 2006 2:48 pm

I would just like to go on record and attack the following arguments...there is alot going on right now. This has been a very trying time on this Athletic Department , the University and Willis.

The first argument that I heard is that "SMU is not supporting Justin Willis". SMU does support/is supporting Justin. A.D. Steve Orsini and Head Coach Phil Bennett are both on record saying that they support Justin and want him back as part of our program. There is simply a process that has to be worked through before any reinstatement could happen.

The second arugument is "why was nothing done when coach bennett was informed of this situation previously"....The Dallas Morning News reports, "Willis, who
said he did his best to ignore the situation, said he had mentioned a
problem with the alleged victim to coach Phil Bennett in the spring but
he did not hold Bennett responsible for not putting a stop to the
situation. "Coach Bennett didn't know it was a serious matter," Willis
said. "I didn't know it was a serious matter."

Before we start spreading rumors and jumping at every single gun...lets realize that there are numerous folks caught in a serious situation at the moment and speculation on our (the fans ) behalf can deter folks from doing what is in the best interest of all of us...and that is protect the university and its students...

Yes we all understand that this is a serious situation and EVERYONE knows that PB and Orsini support willis. If you have read past threads it is said they Support him.

Some people are saying that the Faculty and Staff outside of the Athletic Dept. dont support Justin.

Anytime a situation happens like this at any University, peoples always jump the gun and rumors are always being tossed and turned.

It happens.
