me and my dad are stayin at the brandford in lincoln park..... we tried to get somewhere close to the stadium but it was kinda hard to figure it out via maps, etc..... i'm not sure where any other fans are staying..... the parents usually end up trying to stay with the team as much as possible...... but i ended up settling on that one, they say it's like 5 mins or something..... speakin of how bad is traffic going into games, etc...... we have to be there early enough to get our tickets and i am usually there for warmups every game.....
we're flyin in on friday night... we're set to land at DFW at 10:15p.... but.. the last time couple times texas hasn't liked us and we've had major delays..... so i'm not always positive about the time..... me and my dad basically just travel for the game (and when its basically cross-country wkends are short) so we're leaving sunday morning.... not a whole lot of time in dallas so i'm tryin to find ways to make good use of my time.... thanks for the heads up on the weather..... i'm sure it will be great.... i love oct/nov football weather... that cool sunshine stuff..... besides there is NO WAY it will be as bad as the monsoon we drove through and sat through to get to Tenn. that was the worst weather ever (in fact some of the UT fans said they couldnt ever remember a game delay)...... as long as i can get a couple game pics taken i'm happy...... we've got pics from every game (even UT but it was tricky keeping the camera dry).... i'm really looking forward to this trip.... when i drove through dallas (you know... at 4am... pissed off cause i missed the bowl game bc of weather in arkansas and kentucky but still determined to make it to fort worth)... it was beautiful.... lol.....
Oh, OK, the Bradford at Lincoln Park, that is very close to SMU, not close to the airport, but is close to SMU. You can get to the campus from the hotel in about 10 minutes, straight south on 75 to Mockingbird, take Mockingbird exit, turn right and you can see the stadium 1 block away. If you want to walk the Boulevard, and see the Warm Up, you could get there about noon, get a bite to eat, and walk to the stadium. Welcome to Big D ! ! ! We hope you enjoy your stay, even if you don't enjoy the game ![]() If you can't be a Mustang, marry one !
yea..... i got the directions from DFW to the Bradford... something like 26 miles.... fun stuff.... i can make it though... drove the KState trip.... (i think my right calf is slighty bigger than my left).... does your team do any pregame things (i.e. like our "walk" or Tenn's walk or anything like that).... and where exactly is the Blvd?
i'm pretty much ready 2 skip 2morrow all together and get on to friday (though i am sad i have to miss midnight maddness...... football is very impt)..... haha.... (def not ur typical girl).... ne way... hope 2 see a lot of you out for the game.... it should be a good one... we've always had good luck with opposing fans bein really nice too... so i'm excited.... see you in Dallas!!
The easiest directions from the airport: Take the North Exit from the airport, go to 635, go east, for a long way, to Hwy. 75/ Central Expressway, south to Loop 12 / Northwest Hwy. exit, the Bradford is on the right, just south of Loop 12, at Caruth Haven. Bishop Boulevard is the center street to SMU. When you turn right off of 75 on Mockingbird, there are some pay parking lots right there on the left, the first street west of 75 is Airline, the second one, another block west is Bishop, literally 2 blocks from the expressway, you can't miss it. Park where you can, walk over to the stadium, the ticket booth is on the north end of the stadium, and it will put you very close to the Boulevard. If you can't be a Mustang, marry one !

Traffic isn't bad, like everyone else has said, the stadium is only a block from a freeway. Parking is frequently an issue though. There isn't much on campus, and the surrounding neighborhoods fill quickly. You may want to park at Mockingbird Station. It's a bus/rail terminal on the opposite side of the freeway. Parking is free and available and they shuttle to campus for free.
Yeah, we have probably the worst parking in all of college football.
Just wait for the OCT 31 game when parking will be a huge hastle.
I'm probably just going to park at Mockingbird Station and just bus over on Oct 31st. I agree that game will be the worst parking situation this season. I disagree however that we have the worst parking in college football. I'm always able to park somewhere less than a mile of the Boulevard and if not then I can park at Mockingbird Station and bus over. That's a lot better than at A&M. Last year, I had to walk what seemed like 2 miles from where we parked and we had to pay for parking there. They also use buses for those that park further. I also walk a long ways whenever I go to tcu games as well.
When they tore down Letterman, SAE, and Lamda Chi this past spring the purpose for using that land was to supposedly build a new parking garage.
I hope that it will be a garage and that it will go up soon.
Actually, not true. Most people attending college football games are not spoiled like SMU fans who expect to park right next to the stadium without buying a $45 parking pass for the season in advance. Most every single game I've ever been to at another stadium requires parking at some far distant parking lot and a shuttle or a long walk.
You are correct about that. But most parking that is right near the stadium is for families or ticket holders. I know that the Moody Garage is a great place to park within walking distance to the stadium.
So i guess it is not all the bad. However, the students have it the worst when it comes to parking during game days. Every student is forced to MOVE their games on that Friday so the people with parking passes can park close to the stadium. So thats why I consider it one of the worst because the Students slightly suffer with the parking situation as well.
i have a look a like...how do you post pictures? cant figure it out...[/img]
Let me explain something to you. I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me.
1) find the picture you want to post. Right click on it and go to properties. highlight and Copy the address (like http://blahblah.com/apicture.jpg)
2) in your message click the "Img" button. 3) paste the address 4) click the "Img" button again
Also happens at other schools. Again stating an example from tamu, Aggies are required to move the cars from the "Fish Lot". That lot sucks in the first place, but it is also the lot that they use for gameday parking close to the stadium. Freshman often park there because its so hard to park anywhere else on campus. On Friday afternoons, they have to hike from their dorms to the lot, a distance greater than that of SMU dorms to any of the lots. Then they have to try and find parking somewhere for the rest of the weekend. Trust me. I dated a freshman Aggie and spent non-SMU weekends there. It could be A LOT worse.
