Big hoops recruiting weekend

Postby PonyPower » Thu Oct 12, 2006 8:25 pm

So Fred Ellis (Sacramento, Calif.) and Papa Dia (South Kent, Conn.) are BOTH going to be on campus this weekend. I can't think of a better weekend for them to visit, what with the excitement about the football team's chances to beat Marshall, getting Willis back, etc.

The basketball team is practicing (open) Friday night at 9 PM and Saturday morning at 10 AM. I'm going to go, because I want to see what these guys look like, and I want to see the Ponies in action -- can't wait for the season.

Any coach who's got recruits in Dallas on a nice October afternoon undoubtedly will have these guys enjoying the Boulevard. Let's help them realize we care about hoops at SMU -- if you see Coach Doherty and a couple of tall kids, or our current basketball players with a couple of new faces hanging out with them, grab them and say hello.

AND BEAT MARSHALL

Great idea! I don't think I can make the Friday night practice, but I will go Saturday. It sure won't hurt our chances with these recruits, if they can see folks coming to practice. Spread the word!

Any possibility that after the Saturday morning practice that Coach D can have these recruits take a stroll down the Boulevard?

If they hit it at the right time, it would be a huge recruiting tool. if you know what I mean!!

Oh please let them commit! Oh please let them commit! Oh please let them commit!

Show up at the scrimmage tonight and practice tomorrow morning, and make them realize they're wanted at SMU.

Coach Doherty & the rest of basketball team have rented a tent at both previous home games. They have been just north of Cox next to the Engineering School tent.

I would imagine that would be a good place to look for them.

Let's try and get out to the 10:00am practice, and show coach Doh, and these recruits that there is some support.
