It actually is. Originally we had BC, Wake, and Northwestern on our schedule around this time. When Bennett came in, he cancelled those to go for closer teams that he thought we had a better chance against. That's why Baylor, UNT, SHSU, etc. are on the schedule now.

although I think I might be able to prove you wrong-it is Phil Bennett's schedule-that's not my point. My point is that the Big 12 South 's brutal schedule and accomplishments should be considered in analyzing Franchione's performance in his 5th game of his 4th season. After all if we count Sam Houston State Monument and Arkansas Tech then the Aggies can say that they are one miracle pass away from an undefeated season in Fran's 4th season.

Won't be hard. I was just guessing.

Well, I didn't know this to be the case. I assumed (and we all know what that means) that the schedules had been made prior to PB's arrival. Apparently I was wrong.

but seriously you don't feel as a UT fan that the strength you've seen in Big 12 South teams such as OU. UT, Tech and even OSU a few years ago should not be factored in considering Franchione's performance in the 5th game of his 4th year? Really though the Missouri game Saturday is a pivitol game for that program. Beat a good Missouri team and how could anyone have any real complaints with A&M's season considering theor only loss would be a hard fought loss to Tech-hardly a startling loss since Tech has beaten every coach since Tom Wilson regularly. BTW that victory at Kansas was nothing to laugh at-Kansas had won something like 10 straight home games before last week.

With a win against Mizzou the Aggs would be 6-1, with only a last second loss to Tech to blemish the record. SMU would kill for this. Mizzou just clobbered Tech so this is no cake-walk for A&M. Just the same Fran is definitely on the hot-seat. The schedule with TU, Oklahoma and Nebraska coming up is a murders row. The Big 12 and C-USA are light years apart in terms of strength. Just the same I'll be at Ford tomorrow hoping that we can go 4-3 with some sort of shot at any kind of bowl.

Perhaps I watch the Aggies play more often than the average SMU fan does, but I don't get the impression that Franchione is bringing the program up. Sure, they are 5-1 but it took a bonehead play call to beat Army and a last-second comeback to beat Kansas. Otherwise, this team would be 3-3. With the remaining schedule being Missouri, at Okie St, at Baylor, Oklahoma, Nebraska and at Texas I'll be surprised if aTm comes out better than 8-4. I could see them being 7-5 or even 6-6. I'm sorry, but that's not good enough for the aTm faithful - not after their rival just took home the Championship trophy.
I guess I just have a different standard. Mack Brown walked into Texas and took a 4-7 to 9-3 and bowl win. In one year. I think it's time Franchione put up those kinds of numbers or he'll ridden out of town.
And just as an aside, I fully expect Missouri to stomp a mudhole in them this weekend. I'm glad Texas isn't playing them this season. They might see them in the Big XII Championship, though.

I'm completely indifferent on Mizzou, but I'd love to see that!

My cousin went to Mizzou... so for more than one reason I am totally up for seeing that... and I just might as it is looking more and more likely as I will be in Austin for tomorrow's big tilt with the herd. [sigh]

Mizzou is impressive.. they'll kill Aggy

seriously when is the last time a Big 12 North team came to Texas and stomped a good South team-probably has happened but rare-maybe Iowa St. Generally the South has much better athletes so I doubt Missouri stomps the Aggies at Kyle Field.

WHAT? Where are your priorities?
You must be at Ford Stadium tomorrow afternoon. Then, and ONLY THEN, you may slither down to that other little town for a night of revelry in many watering holes.

SMU and A&M play at the same time. The Agg defense is pretty weak. I look for Mizzou to win, however J-Train is an earthmover and can control the clock so it may be close.

My priorities are out of whack, yes. There is no place I would rather be than at Ford Stadium tomorrow. But, sadly it's looking like an 80% chance of being in Austin tomorrow. Sadly.
