Rice in Barnburner

Rice scores with 3 seconds left. On previous play Rice had 2nd and Goal from the 8-apparently threw an Int on a trick play. UAB returns 10 yards but fumbles with only 20 seconds left-Rice recovers and scores from 20 yards out.

I have never seen that...

Looked like he dropped it on purpose. Nobody even touched him.

Didn't anyone teach that UAB player to drop to his knee after an INT with so little time on the clock?

what is it about UAB and the small private schools in Texas? Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. I still recall them celbrating their win over SMU last year after they scored to take the lead (and forgot we would have the ball one final possession)

Let's hope SMU can beat the Blazers in less dramatic fashion 10/31

Arky State beat Memphis on a 50+ yard Hail Mary on the last play of the game. Vandy wins with a fieldgoal and 2 seconds left on the [deleted]. It was a great day for last second wins.

Ark. St. has made a nice run since we crushed them. While winning yesterday w/o several key components of the team and following the distraction of the suspension was a sweet victory, the Ark. St. win is looking like our most impressive win of the season.

Rice vs. UAB

Postby SMUBob » Sun Oct 15, 2006 11:15 am

I was at Rice Stadium last night. Rice has two weapons: Chase Clement running the ball, and Chase Clement to Jarrett Dillard. Dillard is a real playmaker.

But Rice's defense is porous and Rice was incredibly lucky to get the win, after coughing up a big lead because the D couldn't tackle anybody.

SMU should be a solid favorite to beat Rice when they line up late in the year.

Sam Houston State has also made a nice run since SMU defeated the Bearkats. On the road wins over Missouri State and Northwestern State and a Homecoming win yesterday over Nicholls State. Their only losses have been against Div. 1-A SMU & the University of Texas. The Bearkats look primed to win the Southland Conference.
