Just Trying to Understand???

Postby Jeffrey Lebowski » Tue Oct 17, 2006 2:25 pm

Hey guys...

As yall who have seen me on here the past two weeks, i am just a rookie when it comes to Ponyfans.com posting...so I have another rookie question. I am just trying to get a feel for things and understand how the Board is managed...

Why are my "Daily Chuck Norris Fact" threads being deleted?? I just think the facts are hilarious and are good for a chuckle for everyoe to start off the beginning of the Board's day. But this is two days in a row the thread's lifespan has been only about two hours...

I didn't see anything offensive or against the rules as I understand them get posted in either Chuck Norris thread before they were deleted...is this board truly a place where posts can revolve ONLY around SMU football? I like to post about football as much as the next guy, but I can't see what is wrong about bringing some humor and levity to the Board.

I need an experienced veteran to come in and help the rookie out.
Let me explain something to you. I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me.

Yes, the admins/mods try to keep this strictly SMU football related. There is more leniency on the "Around the Hilltop" forum, but it still should have some SMU connection.

You stick to FOOTBALL on the Football board, BBALL on the BBall Board. Post Chuck Norris lines on the Around the Campus board and you wont get your threads deleted....

I believe the Burger War thread is the one that initiated the beginning of the "around the hilltop" thread. It got moved over to open that one up. I am surprised, unless there was another reason, that your thread was not moved to that heading.

I think deletion of the Chuck Norris thread constitutes a travesty of epic proportions.

That is coming from a PonyFans.com Legend! hehehe.

I'll keep posting them and having them deleted until I get a black horseshoe....

The webmaster does not give those. Eddie P is the black horsehoe ombudsman.

jtstang...without crossing what appears to be an invisible line that is against the rules to cross, can you tell me the basic story of what happened to make women's golf an untouchable subject on the Board...I assume some abrasive posts?

Post over in the Around the Hilltop forum and just make sure you mention the time Chuck Norris traveled into the not-too-distant future and took down Vodicka helping SMU get the Bush Library.

The Black Horseshoe thread keeps getting deleted as well. Since I don't sleep, I'm considering trying to sneak it on again in some unholy hour of the morning with updated rankings. Since the Willis situation, we may have to add new levels and rankings for the shoes.

There is a member of the women's golf team that is sweet and clean. You mention her on here and her boyfriend goes balistic sending e-mails and messages to the admins. They don't want to put up with it so they delete the threads.

Look I'm a Heisman level poster and I have no idea what the thing with the women's golf team is... if I were posting about one of our women's teams it would probably be soccer, volleyball, or tennis. I miss Jenny Langer. She had a couple good PF.com PODs (picture of the day).

In terms of the Bush library I can only speculate that folks were revealing closed door information. Also, it could be that they started a political flame war.

I can't remember any other hot button issues. Most of which I have no idea as to why they are hot button issues. Personally, I post mostly about football - and have refrained from posting after a night on the town for a good long while. Pretty easy way to keep you fingernails clean.

Basically, this being - for the longest time, the only, and now - the major SMU Sports fan forum, I feel that the webmasters are under pressure from the administration to present a good clean image to the public. And we can't blame them for catering to SMU's needs and desires, becuase we all want the same two things. SMU winning and strong fan support.

I guess that's the answer.
