ECU is our only game on natural grass this season

Postby ThadFilms » Tue Oct 17, 2006 3:44 pm

This was an interesting tidbit from today's press conference. And it's kind of sad actually. I love dirty uniforms, players getting up with clumps of grass sticking out of their helmet, etc. I guess I have to agree with Coach B.... sign of the times.

Nothing... it was just a flip question at the end... more of a "cany you believe that this the only game on grass this season?" "I know..." type thing.

I am sure that most of the team probably smokes it.

I love how that makes no logical sense whatsoever.

Sorry I am not majoring in English at SMU. They dont have the best English department, being that most of the Rhetoric 1301 teachers smoked grass in their days and still smoke it today.

a lot less ground up tires sticking to them and no "turf" burns that you can get from the artificial grass... i dont recommend on smoking it though... i didnt like the artificial grass... i know it's easier to keep up and better financially in the long run, but there is nothing better then regular grass. Especially at the college level it's like playing on a fairway.

it makes a bigger difference for soccer teams. if you are not used to playing on artificial grass the ball will just take off on you

Grass fields can make a huge difference. The grass can be cut to suit a home team advantage (better team speed) of not cut (less team speed). Either way, the field is cut to suit a home team advantage. Also, most grass fields have crowns which can alter the game dynamics for those not use to a crown. Also, a field can be watered down in key areas (the middle of the field or on the corners) to create an advantage for the home team. Bottom line is grass fields can be a huge home field advantage is the home team so desires. A remote example was the grass field at University Park in 1978. Penn State had a grass field with grass about 6 inches high to negate the SMU team speed advantage. And it worked.
