SMU 41
ECU 21 Justin Willis - en fuego, throws for five touchdowns (tying the single season mark) and rushes for another. Sanders extends streak, Bobby Chase catches two, and Kennedy grabs the final one. Bobbled snap missed extra point on the second touchdown. ![]() Eric Dickerson in Pony Excess "I've love winning man, it's like better than losing." - Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh
SMU 31
ECU 17 Willis scrambles/rushes for 1. Fade to Bobby Chase for 1. Slant to Chase for 1. Corner route to Kennedy for 1. Add 3 for a 32 yard field goal. Tipped pass gives Sturdivant an int. Defense gets 4 sacks. Kick-off return to the 50 sets up a Mustang TD.
ECU has a fantastic secondary.. but I still say Willis shreds them. ECU will show up, but make too many mistakes, ala Marshall.
SMU-31 ECU - 21
On the road, Willis will play less assured, more like the Tulane game.
ECU struggles against the run, pass efficiency D not that great either. At the same time though, we have struggled getting a consistant push on the offensive line, and usually have only run well after our pass offense is successfull. They can move the ball in the air and that is our weakness on defense. I am going to go against the grain here and predict a loss - 24 -21, ECU. We miss a tying FG. Willis has two TDs, but two picks.
SMU 31
ECU 28 SMU down 21-14 at the half. Comes back with 2 TD throws and a FG in the ceond half. Last ditch FG by ECU misses, SMU wins. ---------------

Solely because Joe Sturdivant looks at the ball and in fear, the ball instantly falls to the ground.
Their O-line is huge but soft, their RB is fighting small injuries, their QB has 5 TDs to 4 INTs, they have 2 receivers out and their best is questionable, their best pass rusher is out, one DT is questionable, their LBs are big but slow, their kicker is struggling and we won't throw 2 or 3 picks in the 4th quarter this time around.
Willis' mobility will create problems for their linebackers and a lot of our passes attack the linebackers and not deep into the secondary for their safeties to make an impact. Our running game will be solid but won't make headlines. We won't throw for a lot of yards, as usual, but we will score at least 4 touchdowns (I am guessing 5). Defensively, even without Muse our D-Line overmatches their line. If I am not mistaken they have redshirt freshman matching up against Justin Rodgers...Uh-oh. We are #1 against the run and their RB is hobbled and their QB is nursing a sore elbow. His deep balls will be off, his thread-the-needle passes will be off and with no running game to alleviate the pressure our defense rolls. SMU 35 ECU 14 Willis is 19-26 on the day for 224 yards, 3/0 Has anyone but me noticed that Willis has 3 INTs on the year and 2 of those were tipped up by our own receivers to be intercepted by an out-of-position defender?! That kid has 1 pick (Tulane, returned for a TD =().
Wish it wasn't so, but we fall 1 TD short-- because Sledge is sitting in Dallas due to an overzealous DPD.
