Video Highlights of the SMU vs ECU Game

Postby bluewaterpirate » Sun Oct 22, 2006 1:50 pm

I'm posting video highlights of the game because I know how frustrating watching football games on the Internet can be.

Reading some of responses on Pony Fans it's apparent all of you share the same passion for your team and university as Pirate Fans do! You should be proud of your team and fans they represented SMU well!

Thanks to your fans that made the trip to Greenville they are very classy folks. It shows a strong commitment to SMU Athletics & the Student Athletes that represent you. I hope everyone enjoyed their trip and will come back!

Our teams record is very deceiving in as much as we have been in all our games with the exception of the Tulsa. We have a very diverse passing game that uses many different personnel packages and formations. The Pirates game plan was to pass, pass, and pass some more. Our OL is very young 3 freshmen, 1 junior and 1 senior. The defense is comprised of 5 freshman, 2 sophomores, and 4 seniors and is much better than it looks on paper. It also has to speed to it.

The Mustang offense is very diverse and fast and your defense is strong up front. Coach Holtz had been raving all week about your run defense. The video will show that you were in the game until early in the 4th quarter. Your defense faced a very mobile and experienced QB in JP, plus A. Allison returned after a 3 week absence. Our # 2 receiver was on the sideline with a broken foot. He played the entire Tulsa game with the injury.

I look forward to returning to SMU for our next game. Good luck the rest of the season!

I'm posting the 2nd half first with the 1st half to follow shortly.

Bowl Game

Postby bluewaterpirate » Sun Oct 22, 2006 2:41 pm

Yes I can see it but we've got to beat USM next week. We've had a tuff schedule this year.

ECU & SMU are so much alike in the area of talent. You have some great athletes and some good athletes and that's not a knock on your program. Experience was factor in this game especially at the QB position. Your on the rise and I know SMU Football will be back in short order. It was a great game to watch in person.

Good Luck ........

Shows what happened wrong on the plays that we gave up big plays.

bluewater...Do you think that even with losing to USM and NC State, you guys can rattle off victories in your other three games?

We stand a good chance of beating NC State

and I think the USM game will be a barn burner. Alex sorry about your highlights I rendered the 2nd half 1st. Click on 1st half highlights and you'll see your 2 touchdowns. Most of the fan base thinks we'll win 4 of the last 5 but that's why games are played on the field.

Next year we start out with UNC, NC State, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. Our coaches, players, and AD want to play a full OOC BCS Schedule to enhance recruiting & the fan base.
