Why change horsemen mid-Apocalypse?
webfeet wrote:Let Corey Slater play against UAB, he can't do any worst then Justin has. Yes I know that a lot of you are going to say that he has been playing great. I disagree we were suppose to lose by 6.5 aginst EG and we got our butts kicked. Against UTEP we were suppose to lose by 14 and with Corey playing we only lost by 3. I still feel that justin takes off too early. Or do you really think that PB called those 6 QB keepers in a row. I think that Justin runs way to many times but if he gets the first down everyone is jumping on the justin band wagon, but in reality he might have gotten a touchdown by waiting for a play to develop. One more thing you don't think he is going to be able to keep up the stats now that we have some good teams left to play. Seattle want to see Corey on ESPN2
Uh, Mr. Slater... I say that because I can only assume you are are Corey's dad (or brother perhaps) - while I appreciate you pushing your son's case, and probably also have his Heisman campaign posters at the ready - this is a ridiculous idea. Mustang fans have suffered through years of QB by committee and it has gotten us nowhere.
Hey, I love having Corey here... it's fantastic, but we're not benching Justin Willis.
Might I point out that Justin is tenth in the nation in passer rating, tied for sixth in touchdowns, and fourth in completion percentage. Those are the best QB numbers we've since Mike Romo, heck Mike Ford even... oh and he only has three picks on the year.
Go Mustangs.
(And again, I love having CSlater here, so don't confuse my arguments as a knock on Corey, but a qb change just isn't happening.)

If you look at this person's profile, a location is not cited. Is he/she from Seattle?
Again

No it isn't. I swear webfeet is a Slater relative... every post has been about Slater. Dating back to when we recruited him.

Don't forget that this year, Willis may very well have the best season for an SMU QB statistical ever.

I have absolutely no problem with webfeet's loyalty to Slater. Maybe they're family, and maybe they're friends. Whatever the reason, I'm glad to have two QBs who are at least capable .... a stark contrast to some seasons.
However, with that said:
Willis: 174 attempts - 19 touchdowns
Slater: 44 attempts - 2 touchdowns
I won't panic if Slater has to play, by any means -- he can move the offense (and did so against Marshall, although a couple of drops and a slip by Givens hurt him). But Willis is more effective.

Slater has started 2 games yes, UTEP we were suppose to lose by 14 and only lost by 3. The 2nd half he tore it up in the rain and with a crowd of 40000 fans against him. And he was given the first Quarter in the Marshell game and he held his own but was replaced in 2nd quarter by JW and he didn't do well until the 3rd or 4th qtr. Justin willis was given the first 2 games and you think he looked better then slater. UTEP played Texas Tech to a 38-35 game I believe. So they played fairly even teams but the game slater played was a lot better.

He's serious, BTW. This guy has a dozen posts dating back to January and every one is about Slater.
This quote from one of the earlier ones may shed some light on his motivations. These opinions are just mine his Dad's and not Corey's. So don't hold anything against him for what I have said. I am just trying to fill in some blanks about who Corey Slater is.
Personally, I don't think choosing a quarterback based on the logic that he helped the team lose by less then it was supposed to is all that sound.

I'm also assuming he went to Oregon. But that's a guess considering he lives in somewhat nearby Seattle.

Yes and who were we playing when Justin got these great statistics ever. Do you think those statitics will save PB's job.

Actually Willis lead the team to a score in his first possession early in the 2nd Quarter. Getting facts right sure help credibility.

Oh yeah your right he did get a TD in the 2nd qtr. but weren't we also down inside the 30 or something close like that and came up empty. I just saying this board is so pumped up on Justin Willis and when things go bad it is someone elses fault. Lets blame the defense, bad coaching plays.

To be honest, these types of postings do not deserve a response. The ignorance screams like stuck Irish pig!
