For those that remember, he was in Cavan's dog house, suspended for the first three games of the year, and only got a few snaps versus BYU and New Mexico. Then he got a chance to start, and rushed for 600+ yards in five games, scoring 9 TD... all wins. The yards weren't cheap either, Kelsey averaged 5+ yards a carry. He was injured in practice the week of TCU, and was a non-factor, playing only on the first offensive series (a TD, SMU 7-0 lead). Then it was right back to Cavan's doghouse, and he played sparingly in 1998. Of all the backs, he had the most talent... unfortunately, he and Cavan did not get along.
Re: POLL: Best RB post DP???Donte Womack could run too.

Re: POLL: Best RB post DP???I would think-you're right that Kelsey Adams was the best, but actually those that went to the SMU/Tulsa game the week before the SMU/TCU game can actually attest to the fact that Adams was hurt on the very last SMU offensive play of the SMU/Tulsa game where SMU took the lead on his touchdown. You could tell he hurt it pretty good and had to be helped off the field. It wasn't prominently mentioned in the press or noticed by many people who were not at the game because SMU didn't have another offensive possession where you would notice his absense.

Re: POLL: Best RB post DP???Womack's day against Arkansas was probably the best individual RB performance post DP.
Which makes me sick that we sat him against TCU. As for overall . . . Rongee Hill? with a close second going to Jaques Smith (kidding). Anyone remember the overhyped "Pony Express II" of Vaughn Dickerson and Chris James??? "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: POLL: Best RB post DP???ShanDerrick's back to back 200 yd games will be a difficult feat to match, but career wise, Adams, Womack & Phillips all stood tall.
If KK has a repeat performance of 2002, he will join that group. No one player stands out to me. [This message has been edited by Charleston Pony (edited 07-18-2003).]
Re: POLL: Best RB post DP???I don't know if I would include Rodnick Phillips....to me he always seemed to be more talk than actual production.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: POLL: Best RB post DP???I had to include him because he was good enough to get a free agent tryout with the NFL.
Re: POLL: Best RB post DP???well he produced a 1200 yard season but again had a huge number of carries.

Re: POLL: Best RB post DP???I guess he and KK would both be eligible for the Timex Award...they took a licking, but kept on ticking.
[This message has been edited by PK (edited 07-18-2003).] SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: POLL: Best RB post DP???Donte Womack and Keylon Kincade.
Until Richuel Massey breaks out! I really shouldn't drink and type.
