Seems like TD's per completion would be a more telling stat... but c'est la vie.
Yeah, I forgot he didn't start that game. So, he should be 4-3. Stupid suspension.

I deleted my post. My Computer Science professor father would not be proud of my math gaffe.

How is that calculated? Of Willis' completions, 15.5% of them are touchdowns. For Colt, 15.9%. Just wondering how that stat is calculated.
TDs per attempt. Colt 10.75%, Willis 10.92%
Where did you find that? ... that doesn't jive with my math. Colt has attempted 186 passes for 20 touchdowns = 9.3% Justin has attempted 174 passes for 19 toucdowns = 9.16% What am I missing?
Apparently math class

I think what you're missing is the Texas starting offensive line, just like Justin is. That is a hell of a rating without all those Top 100 players blocking for you, right? Just for fun, how did they compare against our commor opponent, SHSU?

I'll bite:
Justin: 18-19, 248yds, 5 td, 291.22 passer rating
Colt: 13-15, 178 yds, 2 td 230.35 passer rating
Needless to say, both had ridiculous stats against SHSU. Honestly, Willis probably should have been pulled early like Colt was, but oh well. Neither got hurt in this meaningless scrimmage.

My are we making assumptions. Willis' last series was mid way through the 3rd quarter when the score was 42-0. He was pulled early. When was Colt taken out?

Looking at the game summary it appears he was probably taken out at half time. Same score 42-0. Took us a half quarter longer to get there.

Actually, Colt was pulled for 2 series in the first half as well. So he played about a quarter and a half. Snead and Matt McCoy then came in for cleanup duty. Man, I'm glad I was in NOLA instead of at that borefest.

Also, this Willis/McCoy discussion has gotten me thinking: I think both RS Frosh qb's are doing exactly what both coaching staffs were hoping for which was put them in a position to win every game (except for ECU and Ohio St, respectively).

And TT and NTSU for Willis as well.

I think the TT game is a tough one to pin on Willis simply because of all of the things going on in that game - being a big underdog, first start, etc. I can't really speak to the NTSU game because I didn't watch or listen to it. However, the ECU game I think he could have done a little more to put SMU in a position to win. Regardless, I think Willis has done as good or better than the coaching staff could have hoped for thus far. Same for Colt.

In terms of the TT game... the coaches got into a "trying not to lose" mentality... and I think that if that game were played today, Willis would be in a much better place to try and win it.
But he has plenty of time to make up for that one... we play TTech every year of his tenure. Wish we played ATM during his senior year.... but sadly those games are in '011 and '012. (He's done in '09.)

I'm not pinning the losses on Willis, just noting, based on the final scores, he failed to put SMU in a position to win those games.

I guess so. I can't offer up much a rebuttal to that.
