I will appreciate him when they show a replay of "the pitch". And I will watch ponyte's block on the play.

Here's the only sign that will truly matter:

substitute UAB for TCU.

And for us semi-old-timers, what play, game, and date was that again?

The "insults" as you call them may have been off topic, but they are totally warranted. This football team has one winning season in the last twenty years. The current coaching regime has won four times on the road in five years, and has the worst season in SMU history under their belts. We are all praying for a 6-6 record so we can say we were bowl eligible and call that an accomplishment, notwithstanding we won't go to a bowl with that record. We are peaking this year, and all indications are we will fall off at talent in some our strongest positions next year. We still cannot recruit competitively the same caliber players as even TCU, and there is no end in sight to that problem. So please forgive him if he is a frustrated alum who is tired of all the losing and excuses. He has a platform to make his thoughts known, and you should not begrudge him for using it.

No, the comments were “unwarranted” because they were off topic, [deleted]. EVERYONE knows we’ve sucked for a while now, and obviously we’re all unhappy about it. Who’s not frustrated? But his words of malcontent seemed unnecessary, and YOU should not have to apologize for him.

I know he seems like a decent enough guy – whatever. The point is, why does he need to make his “thoughts known” when nobody asked his opinion (at least on those two occasions) in the first place?

Maybe he will surprise us all tonight by becoming SMU’s biggest cheerleader – if we win…or SMU’s biggest critic – if we lose.
GO MUSTANGS!

FIGHT ON!

1980 SMU/UT. Freshman Lance McIlhenny's first game against #2 Texas in Austin. Pitch (precalled) from McIlhenny to Craig James around right end for approximately 50 yards and a TD as ponyte threw a clearing block. SMU went on to win and the PonyExpress was off and running full speed.

If CJ rips his alma mater on national TV tonight, unless we're stinking up the joint and he wants to offer his "insight" about what's happening ON THE FIELD, he shouldn't be allowed back. It's one thing to not stand on his studio desk and scream "SMU is better than Ohio State because I played there!" It's another thing entirely to look for ways to badmouth his own school.

Yeah! SMU doesn't need Craig James to look bad.

Boo Hoo! Craig James made a good natured joke about his football alma mater. I heard the comment-it was a joke. 98% of the posters on this board have said things 100 times worse about the university, its administration, its athletic director or its coaches-and you ALL know it. I hope he does bring the BIG Picture to the attention of the national TV audience as to exactly where SMU has been for the last 20 years and why.

I would personally prefer that people not make any CJ-bashing signs tonight. That's not really the image I want our school to display. While it might be thought to be in good humor, it will show a lack of respect for one of our greatest players. I don't like everything that he has said in the past and have participated in some of the bashing on this board after those comments; however, tonight I will be completely supportive of CJ.

I encourage all of you to also show your support. Make viewers and CJ remember the great days before the DP. Here's a good idea for a sign...

37 - Doak
19 & 32 - The Pony Express
16 - Justin Willis

The Mustangs Return to Greatness...
