South Kent is one of the premier prep schools in America. They play an incredible schedule, they are well coached, and the players are college ready coming out of there. They have 5th year players in addition to high school age players.

These two guys will have played against some of the best competition in the country. Schools like New Hampton, Worster Academy, MCI, Bridgeton Academy, Hargrave Military, and Fork Union Military will be on the schedule. In others words, these guys are playing against men night in and night out. Coach Doherty knows the prep ranks well having signed Rashard McCants out of New Hampton when he was at UNC(Donatas Rackauskas was also on that team).

These schools are great places to get players because the guys tend to be mature (maybe not McCants) and they are used to living in a boarding school so the transition to living away from home is not as bad. I don't anticipate these guys being the last prep school players this staff signs. The staff is extremely well respected in the New England Prep School League as well as many of the other Eastern Prep Leagues.

Don't be alarmed if these two guys don't put up huge numbers either. It will not be a reflection of the type of year they are having. They are on talented teams and in most cases only very special players dominate.

this is very true.

A lot of people were complaining that Bamba Fall was just a backup not putting up big numbers at his high school (Oak Hill Academy I believe), but look what he's turning out to be. Thats why prep schools even get their backups recruited, they are hotbeds for talent

That's true. It was about a year ago at this time that Bamba Fall was being called "a project" and was two or three years away from making an impact .... right?

that's usually the general idea. And any player that is 7-1 disappears when he turns sideways and gets 4-5 rebounds a game and makes about 1-2 jump shots shooting the ball from the field a game is a "project" in basketball parlance. That means a player who shows long term potential but has not yet polished his offensive or defensive game to consistently reach his potential. Last year without his physical ability to block shots he is an offensive and defensive liability and got schooled by the better centers in the games last year.He is a "project" Got it. At 7-1 he should get 4-5 rebounds a game by sticking his hands above his head.

If you were in attendance, you could clearly see Bamba get 4 rebounds on ONE play. Then the put back. Bamba averaged 4 - 5 BLOCKS last year....

Yes Bamba does have a lot of room to improve in basketball....maybe "rising star" would be a better term to describe Bamba.

He got 4 or 5 rebounds on one play but the problem is that he missed 2 layups on the same play. He was also playing a team whose tallest player was 6'8". He is definitely a project whose offensive post game still needs a lot of work.

He IS still technically a project if you want to put it that way. But you know what??? I'll take 11 other "projects" that played like he did his FRESHMAN year to round out my roster
