A good win on national TV, the players had limited dumb mistakes, we are above .500, the best start post-DP, and Craig James throwing good love on the air.

It has been a long road, but we may be turning a corner.

That was the worst excuse for a football game I have ever seen. Not a good showing for either team on the big stage...

That was a terrible display but a win! Good thing we hung in there and didn't lose composure after the Willis fumble. The defense was decent tonight and didn't give up too much. Offense was pretty stagnant - did we try ONE pass down the field tonight???

The past SMU teams would have folded and lost.

For fear of being called an [deleted] by some of the middle schoolers on this board, I agree with you HF / Charleston P....not real impressive. Glad we won, no doubt....need to tighten things up a bit (ummph, ummph) before the UH game, nice to have some extra days. Weird vibe tonight, strange production of the game by ESPN...just never felt like a "real college game" to me...maybe I expect too much...team does not seem very well coached?

I am sure we did not impress to many bowl scouts this evening....in the end , a bowl game would be nice as we do appear to need some extra practice time. BEAT UH!!

Gotta agree that this was not our best performance. What happen to the O????? We simply didn't execute against a less than stellar defense. I am glad for the win but we are fortunate to get out of this one with a win. UAB is not that good and that is the only thing that helped us. The good news is that we have 11 days to prepare for the next game. Our O started off well and dominated but couldn’t complete a drive. Then our O was non-existent and our D just couldn’t seem to stop them. Not a great performance on national TV but a win is a win. We had less than 300 yards total offense. We held them to much less than 300 yards total offense but never seem to stop them during crucial drives. Glad for the national TV win. Good job Mustangs. Way to hang in there the ENTIRE game.

you're right we didn't come out with our best all around game, but a win is a win... i can think of plenty of games in the past that were just like this one that we ended up losing. we played till the end, and dint have to depend on a hail mary to win... BEAT HOUSTON!

I think the announcers said it best though in the second half...a big part of our struggles on offense had to do with the fact that we didn't get to run many plays. Granted because we turned it over, but still...ever play seemed to go for at least 8 yards

Nonsence!

I am the first one to blast the Ponies when they give mediocre efforts (check my past posts). I was at SMU in from 90 - 94, right after the DP when we were a laughing stock. Sitting up here in Denver watching that game on TV, that was a big win for us. I made sure a lot of folks I work with tuned in (as one guy said, "at least it is better than the NBA"), and it will be the first time this program gets any respect.

Can any of the real students of the Hilltop tell me - Is that the first win on National TV Post - DP?

And if that was the worst excuse for a football game you have ever seen, you certainly didn't attend any of the mid-90s SMU games at the Cotton Bowl.
