Some of my SMU friends didn't go to the game PRECISELY because the game WAS ON NATIONAL TV. Apparently they're such drunks that they'd rather watch it with a full pitcher in front of them somewhere on Greenville.

by all means, let's blame the DMN for our attendance woes.

James addressed our attendance issue at one point in the broadcast by saying very diplomatically that SMU fans have high expectations stemming from our rich history and success in the 80's (stated otherwise, SMU has a lot of spoiled rich kids that aren't going to settle for anything less than the "best" - that's my take on things) He went on to say that people have to be realistic and that SMU is no longer competing in the Big XII - but shortly thereafter started mentioning that SMU should dominate their competition in CUSA.

Bottom line is that "school spirt" isn't a big deal to most SMU people. Buffy an Jodi simply can't be bothered. Too many are only interested in attending a football game if it affords them an opportunity to show off that new wardrobe. If we can't interest our own in the product, how again are we going to appeal to the casual fan in the DFW area?

Tell me I'm wrong and it REALLY is the DMN's fault
