Safe to say that Craig James doesn't hate SMU, but...

I'm sure CJ called players by their numbers instead of their actual names because he probably doesn't want these kids to get national recognition. I am sure CJ still has some hate in the bottom of heart for SMU. I doubt he wants the kids here now to get the attention that he got in the 80s. He only puts his school down by doing little stuff like that.

Yeah. I hear he calls his daughter size 6.

She is probably a 2 and wears it well .

I thought he did a fine job. If I was trying to be an unbiased announcer on a national broadcast, I would try to be like CJ last night. He spoke about his glory days with ED and the Holiday Bowl. He gave a hopeful view of SMU football. While I haven't always like his comments during other games, I thought the all of his comments were appropriate for last night. Great facilities, great stadium, great student bodies, etc. He stated that he could possibly see us being a dominating force in the conference. Put yourself in his shoes for last night's game. How would you have announced the game while trying to be unbiased? The game prep stuff is nitpicking. He didn't call Martin by name. He didn't praise every single aspect of SMU football like a local radio announcer. Give it a rest.

I've criticized CJ as much as anyone for comments made about SMU during other games, but you're nitpicking.

It's not like he went to SMU because he was a childhood fan. His SMU
bound girl friend, and I think wife now MADE HIM go to SMU

He's only responding to MUCH RIBBING with humor, and trying to be
objective/unbiased to SMU on his broadcast statements about us.

He's probably the most honest member of the Pony Express. Never
heard of any extra dishonest benefits he might've taken. He's been
present at important pre-game presentations about the 82 team. and
seemed well received, and joked around with team members

I personally thought the broadcast was entertaining. When James talked about he & Eric wearing tear-away jersys one season and then stopping that practice after they kept having to come off the filed too frequently, Flutie commented that it "got too expensive" to which James quickly replied "money wasn't an object in those days"

I'm sorry but at some point you've got to poke fun at the whole death penalty thing. We were ridiculously dirty and everyone knew it. We were beating Texa$ and A$M at their own game.

I also really like the whole Justin Rogers segment...complete with the tray of 4 hr old Big Macs being devoured and the alligator in the shower story.

All in all, a very good night for SMU and great publicity...along with a reminder that Doherty is now recruiting talent for SMU hoops.
