Maybe conservative is the wrong word, how about bad. Sweeps on 4th and 1 anyone? Bennett or whoever drives me crazy with crap like that.

What is with the glut of UofH fans on the site? Kinda pathetic trolling the opponents site en masse.

When you own as many records and rank were Kolb ranks, he is a special talent. SMU did an outstanding job of defending the pass, covering our receivers, hurrying, hitting, and sacking him. Plenty of team couldn't stop him but you guys did an outstanding job.

Props to that, this was an ugly game so many penalties and mistakes, we just got lucky enough to capitalize on yours more than you guys did ours. Perhaps that problem resides in the coaching? But that's for you guys to grill over.

All Hail Anthony Alridge and the Coogs CUSA West Division Champions

Currenstudent, you can pick at houston for alot of things, but Kolb? You are smoking that premium pony chronic. Bad numbers today, but he made that 3rd and 19 play.

You guys did a great job of containing Kolb today... but what makes Brile's offense work is the RUN.

See you next year.

you guys got 10 points off of our offsides penalties. You guys did a great job shutting Kolb down, which you were the first to do this year. But he still beat you with 3rd and 19 in our own endzone. You got another 7 points because our freshman 4th string safety gave up on the play, when you receiver did not.

The Coogs are for real. And Kolb is a special player. Too bad you can't see that.

Yup, you don't get that 3rd, and 19, and you probably lose :!:

I personally would like to appologize for the lack of class shown by some SMU fans posting on this thread. It was a great game to attend, with perfect weather and a pretty good crowd. I was impressed with the Houston turnout and thought they had great spirit for their numbers. They all wore red and made alot of noise. It's great to be in C-USA and great to be playing Houston again.

The loss can be blamed on the offensive turnovers and the defense giving up big plays. Congratulations Houston and good luck.

Agreed...let's show some class.

We had every chance to win this game and gave it away.

Conservative? we threw the ball 39 times for almost 300 yards. I bet we had Pass plays called on another 10 or so when Willis was forced to scramble or was sacked. Willis looked down field all day-couldn't hit anyone but Sanders, Now there were two occassions when he had two receivers-I believe it was Blake Warren on both occassions WIDE WIDE open for potential TDs-but to be fair he threw to the short man both times after long scrambles-BUT both I believe resulted in SMU First Downs-so that didn't kill us. Otherwise, Willis bought plenty of time to make plays but I didn't see the WRs working well once he scrambled. The problem wasn't with conservative play calling-it has more to do with our failure to execute in the running game. We are a very poor offensive run blocking team. Haven't been able to make 3rd or 4th and short for the last two weeks and on other occasions this year.

I don't know how you can call Houston a class university with what went on the field today. First, the lack of sportsmanship knocks out the class part; and second, I'm not sure I'm ready to commit to calling Houston a 'university.'

Oh Laxer...

sorry you can't be more gracious.

I hold two degrees from UH in Literature and Political Theory. I graduated from the Honors program. I now own a successful design business in Portland, Oregon.

Most of my professors we're from Ivy League schools.

Yes, Houston is a real University. Sorry you are so intimidated.

To the others, thanks for the class posts.

it was good to see a familiar band and a visiting contingent if nothing else. I really enjoyed the game today-I enjoyed the anticipation of a game that mattered in November. It was a feeling to hasn't happened around here in awhile. I even enjoyed the 7-11 jokes and references to the Death Penalty between teams that actually have some legitimate reason to hate each other. Ahhh! hatred is what made the SWC so great. Now its just pathetic against schools that have left us in the dust. If CUSA is going to survive this is the kind of rivalry that we need to develop. This series is showing signs of life.

The 'Stangs gave us all we can handle...well, maybe not all we could handle. That's rather cliche. It was as close as I thought it would be, but I had hope because we had come from behind (28-14) to beat Rice earlier this year. In that game, like this one, we started with a 14-0 lead.

The 3rd and 19 conversion was incredible but we had bumbled our way back into that situation and some of these plays work out that way. The guy was wide open for some reason. Blown coverage? Any way, y'all converted on at least a couple key 3rd and long plays as well.

What was the reason why the students couldn't past the 30 yard line? They were able to sit up to at least the 50 in the UAB game and it gave SMU a better advantage.

Kolb didn't seem on his game today, at least not through the first 2 1/2 quarters. Largely, he may have underestimated the power of the SMU pass rush, but also, his friends and family were at the game en force since he's from Stephenville. He started off last week's first quarter rather poorly as well but then cranked after that.

As a strong SMU fan, as well as UH alum, I'm excited that Willis is so strong. He's every bit as good as any other underclassman in Texas (McCoy, Harrell, McGee, etc.). It's great to have him back for a couple more years. UH will have an unproven QB at the helm next year.

Anyway, I was really encouraged by the large crowd, but as expected a sizable chunk left after halftime. Many of them only came in just before the half anyway...especially around the 40-50 on the visitor side.

Beat Tulsa!

PS: If a player of ours kicked someone, I'm glad he was kicked out of the game and he should face more UH imposed penalties as well.

AMEN! We wandered in the WAC wilderness far too long, and we have a much more interesting group of teams in C-USA West with schools that can actually attend away games.

Even though the ending sucked, it was very refreshing to have a real big game atmosphere at Ford against a long time rival. TCU shouldn't have left.
