NO may be a better location, but no one (except players and parents) will drive/fly 600 miles to see Middle Tennessee Vocational Tech.

Point taken...but you did say you pity those that hear my voice throughout the day. Didn't think that was necessary. And how many times can I say that I don't think our football team is any better than yours this year??? I don't see any arrogance there...I just want the best for my school, as do you. You never answered my question about whether you'd be somewhat disappointed if SMU were 10-2 and unable to go to a true bowl game (on the road) to face a BCS team. I've offered congrats after every big SMU win this season and, despite your best efforts to make me hate SMU, I will continue to support both schools! ![]() If SMU were 10-2 this year I would be delighted with wherever they could go. It has been a long drought. Assuming we beat Rice (big assumption), beating NTSU (which should have happened but did not), Willis playing at UTEP, and a couple of near misses against Houston, and we could (could not should) be 10-2. Now understand, none of those things happened and we did lose those games but victory was within the grasp of the team. Had those games gone the other way, I would be more than happy to beat TCU in the Ft Worth Bowl. My only regret would be having to sit in that stadium. I apologize for that voice thing. I should have pitied them for the words you say, not your voice.
and so it goes, folks. we have the two extremes of tcu fans represented on this thread. the reasonable, methodical reedfrawg in one corner, and this person.
If you can't get up enough to prove you are the best non-BCS team, then you didn't deserve to play in a better game.
Now you sound like Reedfrawg. IF we get selected for a bowl we had better be happy with where ever it is. We need the extra practice, exposure, and experience. It makes for a sounder team and better recruiting. Let TCU turn down going and they can watch us improve and pass them by. And we can thank them for their gracious and heartfelt stand against the establishment.
Then come back to CUSA. We'll kick Tulane into the Eastern division. We have 2 of 5 bowls versus BCS teams this year, and 3 of 6 next year.

Well, I could be an A-hole and then you could just hate all of us! As a former player, I'm quite certain we never went out there and tried not to win...althoug it may have appeared that we did!!! ![]()

Well, that is one TCU "fan" saying that. Would SMU rather play in the NO bowl or the Houston Bowl against Rutgers? (purely a hypothetical question) My point in all of this has nothing to do with comparing TCU's team to yours...it has to do with wanting a "better" bowl (exposure, BCS team, etc.) for your team. And just because I would like to play in a more high profile bowl game does not mean I am not happy we are playing in a bowl game. Heck, we just went 5-6 two years! We certainly need the practice.
I will be happy with either, I was just stating a preference if (big if) we are fortunate enough to win this weekend. In a perfect world we play in FW with lots of excited Pony fans versus playing in the empty (11K strong), cavernous, Superdome with 487 SMU fans who don't know who were are playing. I'll take whatever we get, but I can also state what I would prefer, again, in a perfect world.

Smooboy and I are saying the same thing here.
Smooboy and I are saying the same thing here.[/quote] Thus my statement "Now you sound like Reedfrawg".
That's rich...Remember when tcu refused the Mobile Bowl because it interfered with their study schedule for finals???
The fact of the matter is that TCU did not consider all the ramification of going to the MWC and they have noone to blame but themselves. They dreamed of all the upside and hopes of a BCS tie-in, no matter how slim, but forgot all the negative impact of travel, or much of it. They could not imagine staying in a CUSA with the likes of SMU.
Well the chickens have come home to roost (man I am into cliches today.) The MWC has fewer bowl tie-ins and you even had to create one of your own to limit that damage. And now you are playing in that bowl. Well we really feel your pain (not.) We can understand your disappointment but can you understand our natural view of TCU as arrogant and delusional? ![]() You have made your bed so now lie in it. (I know, cliche. But sometimes they are so appropriate.) ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
You all refuse to see the big picture in this whole deal, it's amazing. I always thought SMU grads were fairly educated folks, but some of your posts are missing the boat completely.
You all obviously can't see things from our perspective, so the argument is lost over here. Maybe you all can continue your winning ways, in about 7-8 years you'll understand what we're after. Unfortunately for the Frogs right now, our bowl options are limited. For our players sake (after a "disappointing" 8-10 win season), I hope they get to have a vacation somewhere other than Fort Worth. So of all places, San Diego sounds pretty nice despite the potential opponent. And if, we are to play in Fort Worth, I can think of no better opponent than SMU. No one within shouting distance of DFW would care (unless they enter a bowl pool), but I would love to send all 5,000 SMU fans back home with nice stocking full coal. It would be nice to send our Seniors out with a little payback. But if it's not SMU, then FW Bowl doesn't sound like fun.
