10/9/04 MOB Script

Postby CalallenStang » Mon Nov 20, 2006 9:32 am

Here it is guys. The MOB performed this script on our last visit to Houston:

SMU vs. Rice University
October 9, 2004
Rice Stadium, Houston, TX
"MOB vs. SMU"

Announcer: Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale a tale of a fateful trip. Back in nineteen ninety-five, the sinking of the Southwest Conference forced several universities to abandon ship. Here's the story of the castaways, on the lost isle of the WAC.

MOB: Dugahduh Dugahduh Duh. GO RICE!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Form: X I I
Announcer: When we last saw our castaways, they'd just eaten Mary Ann and spotted a ship on the horizon! As the big twelve sailed into view, the SMU millionaires begged for help, but the professor, a rice grad, stayed silent, working instead on a boat of his own. He knew that being stuck on a deserted island was better than being *marooned* in a conference with the Aggies.
Music: Gilligan's Island
Action: Ship of the Big 12 sails past. Crew is wearing colors of all Big 12 schools.
Announcer: Ladies and gentlemen! Twenty-first century MOB is proud to present: in the role of the movie star, please welcome Miss Texas two thousand four, rice's very own Jamie Story!
Music: Continuation of Gilligan

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Form: S O S
Announcer: The millionaires from SMU thought that help was comin' round the mountain, but when the WAC island split in half in ninety-nine and the mountain went west, they were out of options. The professor knew that their chances of rescue were as likely as Dan Rather getting his facts straight.

Music: Carry On Wayward Son
Action: Prof on Island with Blueprints. Mountain gets up and leaves; Millionaires swim after it, and get attacked by sharks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Form: A boat
Announcer: After nine long seasons, the castaways finally built a boat. The Professor supplied the design and the Mustang millionaires supplied the glue. They sailed to the calmer waters of conference USA, waving goodbye to *dumps* like Honolulu and Reno, and saying hello to the beautiful resort land of Huntington, West Virginia!

Music: Louie, Louie
Action: The boat sails off the field.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Announcer: This just in folks! Officials at UT-Austin have announced that 2005 will be the year they finally beat OU, and they *really* mean it this time!

Their band is so irritating. I don't find anything they do remotely interesting. I'll give them props for thinking outside the box. But that's about it.

I don't find the MOB's bit irritating at all. The MOB, Stanford, Princeton pep band, and USC marching bands are my favorites.

Just make sure you pull hard for us since you're going to be in Houston this weekend. At least, I thought you said you were going to be there.

I find Big 10 annoying. I find the Rice Band hilarious-how could one not admire a band which forms a fire hydrant in honor of Reville in order to [deleted] off Aggies. The skit they did mocking the SMU Band years ago as The Best Dressed Band in the Land was hilarious too. I'm not surprised Big 10 doesn't get it.

Love you too!!!

You're right. My sides were so sore from laughing when they mocked us. I begged them to stop because they were revolutionary with their routine. It might have been the best halftime routine of all routines. Unbelievably fantastic.

I remember once in the Cotton Bowl they did a reenactment of the JFK assasination, as John Lovitz from a Subway ad might say..."EDGEY!".

One of my favorites is when they were at TCU for the last game before TCU left the WAC for C-USA and they did a tribute thanking TCU for all of their wins through the years. Was priceless.

I really like the MOB as well. It's great to see how they are able to [deleted] people off who don't have a sense of humor.

Of course I'll be yelling and cheering for Pony. I'll be there for sure. It will be the first time I see Pony play live in three years.

The MOB

Don't knock the Mob - they are one of the most entertaining and
innovative bands in the area.

If you haven't heard the story about what they did to the A&M band
one year in Houston - you haven't laughed that hard.

Now, now, remember as an SMU fan you MUST maintain your sense of humor.

Rice still maintains their record as the only band I have ever booed. I guess they aren't bad for a group that doesn't even go to Rice.

the most surprising thing in this whole thread is that someone from Rice was actually selected as a Miss Texas.

My best friend started college at Rice, and the girls there - woof!
