The Funny here would be TCU saying "no" to the bowl in their own stadium.. LOL.
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

After reading this whole post, I have come to the conclusion that tcu fans have got to be completely insane. To have the guts to get on this board and proclaim to all the world how great your team is and how unworthy all other teams are, that they should not even be allowed to grace the same field as you is unbelieveable. tcu will be playing at home because that is where they belong. They are not playing in other bowls against BCS teams because they do not deserve it. Great job in joining the MWC. Why do you think SMU got out of the WAC? No one knows who you are playing and they dont care. So go ahead and whine and cry about how good you think you are and we will more than likely see you in ft. worth. What a year it would be to cap off the season with a Bowl win against tcu. Go Stangs.

Honestly, and with all respects, playing a 7-5 CUSA, specifically Southern Methodist, would not be a contest worth watching on the Texas Christian side. We've earned much better--knocking off two Big 12 opponents [4 of 4 in the last two years] and losing just two conference games [namely because our quarterback had a screwed-up throwing arm] deserves respect. One day, Southern Methodist will be in this same position--one day, Southern Methodist will go 11-1 and realize how [deleted] up the Bowl Championship System really is.
I guess your cluelessness is because you live 1500 miles from the Metroplex? That's one of the dumbest posts I've read in a while. I guess you figure that TCU would much rather play out of state in some other spare bowl with 5,000 fans of their own traveling to the game than play a rivalry game here in their own stadium full of fans. Nice logic!

If it were up to me . . . I'd have the team stay home and refuse to play in a bowl. I would do this until we have a revised system. Even if we were invited to a BCS bowl for going 12-0. I'd do this to stick up for the little guys: for teams like SMU, TCU, Utah, Tulsa, UTEP, Navy, Fresno State, Colorado State, Northern Illinois, Nevada, San Diego State, Houston, North Texas, Hawaii, Wyoming, Brigham Young University, New Mexico, Idaho, Utah State, New Mexico State, Louisana Tech, San Jose State, Toledo, Arkansas State, Troy, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana at Lafayette, Florida International, Arkansas State, and all other non-BCS schools.
This is where you lose all credibility. Having the team stay home from a bowl does NOTHING but hurt TCU. Loss of money, loss in recruiting, and loss of exposure (except for bad press from turning down an invitation). If TCU wants to prove that it belongs, then it needs to be happy with whatever bowl it gets. If it's a "lower tier bowl" then beat the pants off the opponent, and prove that you deserve better. If it's a good bowl with BCS implications then play your butt off and win. THAT'S how you prove something; consistently perform, shut up and win. TCU has been on the right path toward future football success, but honestly statements like the one above do nothing but damage that progress.
By TCU distancing themselves from a great area rivalry with SMU, they have also hurt themselves. SMU and TCU need each other. They feed off one another and have provided great stories throughout the years. It truly is a rivalry when either team can win in any given year; such is the case with these two teams.
As for the Ponies, I'd be happy going to ANY bowl. 22 years is a long time, and we've been through football purgatory to get back to the point of possibly going to a bowl. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, we need to play great against Rice this weekend. If we take care of business this weekend, then we've done all we can do, let the chips fall where they may. GO PONIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!

I give up...again I never once said we were good or better than anyone. I said we were having a down year, etc. I guess you only read the parts of this discussion that you needed to support your post. I still haven't seen anyone explain we should not strive to be in the best possible bowl.

Reed, if it makes you feel better, I understand what you are trying to say and I don't take it personally as an SMU fan. Go ponies.

Actually, I would be a little disappointed if SMU were to play in the "University Park Bowl" at Ford Stadium (theoretically, if it existed). I understand how TCU fans would want something better, just as we would want something better as well.
If we had 10 wins, you know there would be people on here claiming we deserved a big-time bowl vs. "we'll take whatever we can get since it's been forever".

And hence, since we do not have 10 wins, we shall take the West Metroplex Bowl or the Empty Superdome Bowl happily. We gotta start somewhere!

like SMU didn't [deleted] up a storm in 1983 when it was forced to go to the Sun Bowl at 10-1. If TCU ends up at 10-2 I can understand the frustration. The entire system sucks.

So it's hypocritical of us to say they're being ridiculous for refusing the FW Bowl, when we'd do the same thing.

Oh how superior great and mighty is the MWC when their 10-2 bowl team is forced to accept a game with an 8-4 or 7-5 CUSA team. What does that say about the MWC? Nice job frogs, you have no one to blame but yourselves. We can understand your disappointment, can you understand how arrogant you look to everyone else?
(oops this is a bit redundant, but so are the froggie arguments - ooo you don't understand us...)

I understand, but I did not make the decision to go to the MWC. For all you know, I wanted to stay in CUSA. Basically, though, I could give a crap as to which non-BCS conference we are a part of. Until the system changes, we are all in the same, sinking boat. And it sux for us "mid-majors".

On this we do agree. And for all the smack, I do actually understand your disappointment. I just think it is cute that you guys formed a bowl with a tie to your conference and you can not keep from going to it.

True but you stand for the same line of reasoning that TCU deserves sooooo much more, therefore we will do whatever and dump on whomever to get what we deserve (or at least try to get it) and when things don't work out you want your rivals whom you ditched to understand? Get over yourselves.
