Remember someone else posted on here that they talked to a NO Bowl official and that official told him that NO Bowl wants SMU and if we became bowl eliginle they would give us a bowl bid. I'm not an expert on the bowl selection process but its nice to see a lot of things pointing to a bowl for us.

Yeah. That was 35straight, who I lightly derided through one of my posts. Sorry.

The Texas bowl can take Big 12 against Big East or C-USA. Maybe that's where Houston goes to make this work. Cincy is pencilled in by many to go to the Texas bowl. Houston makes more sense. This is very confusing since some bowls get first pick.

The story of SMU making its first bowl game since the death penalty creates a lot of national media attention and gets people talking about the bowl game that people would otherwise not talk about. This fact makes it possible SMU gets a bowl invitation over a team with more wins.

Nacho, no TEXAS bowl for any CUSA being that the Big 12 has 9 teams eligible with 8 tie ins and the Big East has 7 teams eligible with 6 tie ins.

I don't care how much hype we would get, we have to win 7. I don't feel like posting the rule again verbatim, but it explicitly states that above-.500 teams must go to conference affiliated bowls ahead of .500 teams. So, if we lose, happy holidays guys it's been fun ride, if we win, buckle up 'cause we're goin' bowlin'.

So the Texas bowl has an agreement with the Big East that forces them to take the Big East team if one is available over a C-USA team?

Yes, basically because they are a BCS conference team but nexr year I think CUSA will get the bowl tie in for TEXAS bowl.

The way I understand it is that the Texas Bowl is contractually obligated to take a Big East vs. Big XII this year and a CUSA vs. Big XII next year (so on and so forth). For CUSA and Big XII, preference is toward teams from Texas, but not a requirement. UNT may be chosen as an at-large team should the bowl so choose to ruin itself.

There is no way we play in the NO bowl unless we lose @ Rice...or ECU wins and we win (creating 5 7+ win teams)...but Ft. Worth would have to pick someone else over us.

Espn projects Rice against TCU in the Ft. Worth bowl and us sitting at home...I guess no one is giving us a chance this weekend.

As far as a destination I believe most people would prefer NOLA, I know I would. Competition wise I believe most of us would prefer FW because of the possible TCU matchup.
Personally I am pulling for the FW bowl because my flight to Dallas for the holidays does not arrive until late on the 22nd. Unless I paid some hefty fees to change my ticket, that would not only preclude me from attending the NOLA bowl but it would also mean I would miss a large chunk of the game on TV. So for selfish reason I hope we get the invite to FW.
We have to win first, so go out and take care of business 'Stangs.
