This is a perfect example of east coast opinions…
In 1984 Washington won the Orange Bowl over Oklahoma and finished #2, UCLA beat Miami at the Fiesta and finished #9, and USC won the Rose over Ohio State and finished #10… yet the Pac 10 was the sixth best conference??? Funny.
Their 1984 top conference is the SEC. Florida, despite not playing in a bowl game, finished #3; Auburn finished #14 and LSU #15… not quite the same effect.
I love the SMU reference in the SWC… 1984 was SMU’s last bowl win, 27-20 over Notre Dame at the Aloha Bowl…

Re: Top conferences
Funny they included Notre Dame in the top 10 programs in 1984 and left off SMU who beat them in a bowl game that year.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
