Who belongs in the BS Championship game?

Postby ponyte » Mon Nov 27, 2006 1:22 pm

While we wait with breathless anticipation Bennett's fate, let us venture into another world of controversy. Which teams belongs in the BS Championship game? Is it Michigan? Boise (nobody wants to lose to BSU) State? USC? What about the one lost Gators? Which bowl will ND go to and which deserving team will be dissed so that ND can boast ratings? Can a computer really match up the best (ratings) teams? And if the computer can pick the best two teams, can that computer also tell us which is the best English author, Dickens or Twain?

Oh joy, let the conversations begin.

Texas.

Haha?

Seriously, the two best teams without a doubt right now are Ohio State and USC. Boise State is a joke. They have the worst SOS in college football. I could go undefeated against some of the teams they've played. Ok, maybe not.

Rutgers? Louisville? Wisconsin? Would an OSU -Michigan game on a neutral site be the absolute two best teams?

No question USC V Ohio State. That said SC still needs to take care of business against UCLA.

OSU and SC, of course, although I won't be able to go to the game in Glendale. If it's at the Rose Bowl, I will definitely be there (against Florida? Louisville?).

Who wants a playoff?

Since there is no playoff, I think you have to say that OSU has already beat them and they shouldn't have to do it again.

OSU v USC (assuming USC wins on Sat.)

If there truly was such a thing as the BS Champion, I think SMU ought to get consideration as an honorary winner for the last twenty years of BS.

Yeah, well, even good teams have bad days. Since then, USC has played nearly flawless football.

Why thank you. Since the BS Championship has two obvious flaws (self-selection bias and confirmation bias) one is always interesting to see how folks rationalize these biases. Hopefully, my posts are not always rambling platitudes of tangential trivia that sometimes presents itself on this board.
