Willis named CUSA Freshman of the Year

Postby SmooPower » Wed Nov 29, 2006 3:54 pm

Redshirt freshman QB Justin Willis of SMU was named the league's Freshman of the Year. He re-wrote the Mustangs single-season passing records during his first year on the Hilltop, setting a new school record for touchdown passes with a league-high-tying 26. For the year, he completed 182-of-270 for 2,047 yards and just six interceptions, ranking 10th in the nation in passing efficiency.

Willis was exciting to watch this year. May he improve next year and develop into a huge threat that teams will not be able to stop

I hope so too. Hes going to be our difference maker. Now if we could establish a run game, this offense will be solid.

congratulations to Justin, and I think with a healthy Demyron, that run game could improve. but alot of that will fall on the o-line, just like with every team.

Was this a slam-dunk, or WHAT?

Congratulations, Justin! You had a terrific year, and this honor was very much deserved.

Here's to a bigger and better sophomore year, and then a better junior and senior year. Tear 'em up!

Congratulations, Mr. Willis. A 67% completion percentage. Over 180 yards average passing per game. You earned it in spite of distraction.
Looking forward to you breaking every QB record in SMUs books!!

Congrats Justin - you are a fun player to watch. I think next year's playbook should have one play - Justin scrambles and throws a touchdown.
