Don't these guys have fathers or someone who can sit them down and do some simple math for them.
1. McCown
2. Sanders

Because he's a human being who chose to play for SMU and wanted to help make the Mustangs better. The fact that he got stuck by another guy who played well and looks like he's not going to give up the job any time soon means the writing was on the wall. If he harbors any ideas playing, Willis must look like a considerable roadblock. He, from what I've read, did nothing wrong. If he leaves, I wish him well.

Eric,
I wish the best of luck to you on your journey to Colorado. All things considered though... you have to be honest with yourself and realize that Colorado is a Big 12 school and your freshmen 15 definitely needs to come off if you want to have a shot.

gostangs, you sure have things all figured out. After calling me a heathen, you now call Eric Johnson immature for transferring. How do you know that he has no chance of playing at Colorado? Maybe he visited there and liked it more than SMU? Maybe he would like to settle in Colorado after graduation? Maybe his family, who I'm sure knows his situation much better than you, felt it was the right thing to do? Just because SMU costs 100K doesn't necessarily mean it is more or less valuable than a Colorado degree.
I met Eric last year and was very impressed with him.....couldn't have been nicer or more respectful. I wish him the best where ever he ends up.

He should definitely hook up with Kelan Luker to form the ex-QB band.

Both EJ and Slater will have an enormous amount of egg on their face if this comes to pass. This happened to Meeks when he transferred because he thought that Phillips was the guy. Of course, Phillips got hurt and played very little the next year. Bennett was left short at QB for a couple of years, which cost SMU. Meeks, however, did get the chance to start and play, but he could have been playing at a higher level of competition if he had stayed.
I know a player on the team and he has told me that he thinks Logan Turner is a better QB than Willis, he said he has a much better arm and he will stay in the pocket, not take off at the first sign of danger like willis....so I wouldn't be too worried about the backup QB situation.

You should say who this player is so we can all judge ourselves whether we should calm our worries based on what this player you know says.

LA - the heathen thing was a joke - but if you live in L.A. odds are its true.
All I am saying is that most of these guys fail in their next school - they
usually transfer tp a much lessor university then SMU - and you wonder what is driving the decision. I think it is immature because at a certain point they should see their talent for what it is, (or is not)- but instead they transfer to podunk U (not putting Colorado in this category - though valuable degree it is not) and you dont hear from them again. Add up their total lifetime income with degree from X State vs total lifetime income from degree (and connections) from SMU - and it is un unbelviable difference.
McGown did fine, yes, but Sanders?? Some football success but end of the day still the wrong decision. And those were the best two - the other 25 you will nver hear from again and they lost what could amount to millions.

At least Logan will have a good shot of a minimum (assuming he redshirts next year) of two years as a starter. Johnson and Willis were in the same class and both redshirted so Johnson's time and chances were going to be limited barring injury.

Johnson was in 11th grade 3 years ago. Who was talking about Johnson-vs.-Willis THEN?
