It's cool. SC already has a couple of those so it was time for someone else to have a chance....barely....by like a half a yard, if I remember correctly.
Anyways, at least it's clear this year that that Texas team was a one-man show. Enjoy the Cotton Bowl or whatever. GO MUSTANGS!
FIGHT ON!
I agree with SMUtrojanFan.
Your one man team is gone so enjoy the Hertz Rent-a-Car Bowl. USC will enjoy a fifth straight BCS Bowl (and a possible third National Title in the past four years).
Yeah, because Texas has only been to one BCS bowl. Oh wait. D1Football, the irony of your post is staggering. You're calling out Texas because they're going to an 'inferior' bowl yet are posting on a message board of a team that probably won't even make a bowl. Guess things could be worse for Texas. ![]() Official Cult of Chris Phillips Member
I will take Florida, for two reasons: 1st, I don't like a "rematch" of Mich-OSU. Proves nothing. If Mich wins, need to play a 3rd game (rubber match) in Ann Arbor to decide who is really the better of those two. If OSU wins, we are left wondering whether they could have beaten Florida.
2nd, I like the idea of teams from different regions playing for the title. The match up with Florida represents a north vs south thing. With USC, it was a north vs west. I dont think the other 1 loss team (Louisville) would have gone 12-1 and won the SEC. For that matter, I'm not sure Michigan would have. So the final BCS players are OSU, Mic, Fla, LSU, Louisville, Notre Dame, Wake Forest, Oklahoma, USC and Boise. Sets up a nice Rose Bowl (USC/Mich) and Sugar (LSU/Notre Dame) and an interesting Fiesta (can Boise play with OU?). I assume this means the Orange has to settle for Louisville/Wake) That would be my scenario with OSU/FL for the title
gators - only champs should play for champs

Florida belongs in the title game: they won the SEC and finished 12-1 with the toughest schedule in college football. Michigan had it's chance to knock off Ohio State last month and shouldn't get another bite at that apple.
Florida....for the same reasons the 3 people above me said. Michigan had their shot, and they blew it. I already saw that game once, I don't want to watch it again. If they played in October or September and both won out, then maybe, but Michigan blew it. Florida deserves it. They may not blow out opponents but their D is pretty solid and their O has some imagination. Florida-Ohio St. would have that regional thing too, and I'd rather see that than 2 schools who live a few hundred miles apart play.
plus i'd rather watch a USC Michigan Rose bowl - that is the way it should be!

So I'm pretty embarrassed about yesterday's display. At times, I felt like I was watching SMU play.
Anyways, the good news is that I will be going to the Rose Bowl game this year. I think a USC-LSU match-up would be fun, especially after the 2003 debacle. GO MUSTANGS!
FIGHT ON!
YES i believe it should be Florida vs Ohio State for numerous reasons said above. i think also the rose bowl matchup of USC vs LSU would be interesting because of that issue a few years ago, give em some payback. altho boise is undefeated and goin to a bsc game, they will not be able to compete against Oklahoma.
OSU-BSU.
The match up, regardless of who goes other than OSU, will be hotly debated. Florida or Michigan will claim they belong in the BSC game. However, the assumption that a non-BSC team cannot compete with a BSC team can be tested. Also, if BSU gets creamed, it can add to the BSC lore that non-BSC teams never belong in a National Championship game. If the BSC is so convinced that non-BSC teams cannot compete, then this is a good year to put that theory to the test. It would be a good year to test the theory that BSC teams are omnipotent and can never be seriously challenged by non-BSC teams.
