Latest Mustangs RPI ranking is 22...primarily because of Florida State, Dayton, and Illinois State success...good for program, but will need to go .500 in conference matchups to keep ranking in upper echelon...

Our loss to Florida State is one of those "good losses'' because they just knocked off Florida last night.

Should also point out:

Dayton has three big games in December:
Tuesday at home vs. Creighton
Dec. 23 at Pittsburgh
Dec. 31 at North Carolina

Play well in any or all of those and it helps. As I said last week, we're going to look back on that win and say, good win.

Illinois State has won 5 straight. Not a very challenging non-conference schedule.

By the way, did anyone see that TCU scored 35 points at OU on Saturday?35. Whoa.

TCU barely beat UTA a couple of weeks ago!

But of course, it was a "scrappy UTA team."

I wouldn't be so quick to diss TCU and their performance against OU. We are in a funk right now and unless we get out of it, it could be ugly for us up there in Norman as well..........I just hope we have the kinks worked out in time for the froggies............

That is the negative when you play these NAIA games. You are expected to win with style points, and when you don't, it speaks to a lack of focus and interest in the game.

I don't like the way we have played the last two games, and I'm concerned it'll be the same way with Prairie View. They better find the energy and intensity because it's not there.

Doherty knows that. This team cannot afford to think it can turn it on and off when it wants to like it appears to have done with Dayton, FSU tournament and this cupcake home sched.

If, and this is a humongous if, we are able to play at the level we were at earlier in the season we could probably pull off a 9-7 conference record. Just look at the way some of the other teams in our conference are playing and we really should be able to beat them.

We will beat the toads - but OU will drill us - I predict over 15 turnovers at the guard position.

That is a HUGE hole in this team that will be painfully exploited against better teams.

As of Tuesday, we are #17, as Dayton, Illinois St., and FSU have continued to look strong.

TCU is #210 and Oklahoma is #54.

It should be noted that really there have not been enough games played for these to be terribly valid, but it is still good for us to be up there.

Also notable:
UAB #16
SMU #17
Tulsa #40
Memphis #43
USM #105
Rice #114

This is a definite improvement over where the conference was last year.

Despite some subpar performances against these NAIA opponents, I still really like this team and feel it can outperform every team we have had since we last went dancing. Mind you, I didn't say it was our most talented team, but I think it will be our best performing team.

I really like our Size, outside shooting, Maturity (mostly upperclassman) and even our depth which is something I would have never thought I could say, but we honestly have 8 guys that are quality players and get a lot of minutes and 2 more that can be decent in a pinch.

At Oklahoma will be a real measuring stick game and I think we will be around there with them right to the end.

I see this team as playing down or up to their competition, and as long as you win, that is not a problem....you bring your A game when you play the A opponents. Looking forward to December 28th in Norman.
