total of 21 points.... not a good argument
A loss is a loss and a win is a win regardless of how you try to spin it.
haha whatever you say... we were 6-6 i dont take any wins for granted, however this argument that SC should not be in a bowl game at 6-6 is stupid. look at who we lost to, and look at who they lost to, and the point totals from the losses
I agree that they lost to better teams than we did. My argument is that they didn't beat anyone other than Clemson. Just like everyone seems to discount all of SMU's wins. That's all.

Middle Tennessee State is going to a bowl game? and how many ranked teams did we beat this year? how tough is conference USA compared to the SEC? why is Florida in the national championship and not Boise??

and im not discounting any of our wins... like ive said before... we won 6 games, should/coulda/woulda won 7+, we can make all the excuses we want after the fact, but the truth is we won 6 games with a marginal schedule at best. Which I think it was a good idea to have any easy schedule for a young qb to gain confidence... I expect an upset in the first 2 games of next year!!

NO win is guaranteed. If the schedule dictated the outcome in advance, we would have beaten UNT. Six wins is better than last year.

Beating NTSU would be an upset? Or am I confused about the order of the schedule and we play Tech at home then go to Cowpatty Town to play Froggy High? I thought we played Tech and then NTSU.

I'm not discounting South Carolina's overall strength of schedule. My argument is that if you don't beat any of the good teams on your schedule and just beat marginal teams (outside of Clemson) your wins aren't any better than SMU's or Rice's etc. Thus I equate Rice's 7-win season to South Carolina's 7-win season.
Out of all their wins the only one that "counts" is the Clemson game.
October 7 at Kentucky W 24-17 4-2 (2-2)
November 18 Middle Tennessee State W 52-7 6-5 (3-5)
November 25 at No. 24 Clemson W 31-28 7-5 (3-5)
Last time I checked, ALL games "counted" in CFB...
Those 3 teams above are decent bowl teams this year. How many bowl teams did SMU beat...oh yea, just one...

Based on this year's game, yes it would.

When Rice can go to a bowl in the first season under a new coach who inherited a weak, losing team, then you have got to ask why can't SMU do as well as the Owls. Every excuse we have used for the ponies could easily have been applied to Rice. They went 7-5 and we should have too. We have seen what new coaches were able to do at UTEP, Tulsa, and Houston after they took over losing teams, and they did it quickly too. By the way, the Houston Chronicle gives lavish sports coverage to their two CUSA schools, unlike the DMN. Houston has the same pro sports competition for the entertainment headlines as Dallas, yet the coverage is much different. Things are better at other schools and other places. We just can't settle for less.
